Well, he clearly did die of a heart attack. Just check out that picture, he looks 80!

And, by that time at least, his funeral had one of the largest crowd gatherings in modern history and was surpassed almost 6 years in March 1995 when Vladislav Listyev was murdered (I remember it very well and I was 8 years old at the time) .
His surname almost means "Sugar-like" ("sakhar" is sugar in Russian).
