StoneKeeper's Movie Guessing Game: I Recommend THIS Movie #1523 - Soothing Therapy [StoneKeeper revises things in his favor with RUBY SPARKS]

O frabjous day! Calooh! Callay! The VFA has launched its official website today, so to mark the occasion I've selected a popcorn classic that might bring some warmth and pleasantness to us all.

I have a movie in mind and you have to guess which one it is. For each movie you guess, I will give a hint that connects your guess with the movie I have in mind.

For each guess, a connection is posted. Example of connections: Actor, length, genre, aspect ratio, language, country, year, director, actor, writer in common, rating, number of votes, nominations. It can even be something like: both movies involve Cabbage Patch Kids. Also, you can use Metascore color or rating, Rotten Tomatoes score, any award wins or nominations in common, same number of words in the title, plot keywords. Note: "Plot" in the IMDB advanced search links to "Plot Summary" on the film's page. "Keyword" in the advanced search links to "Plot Keyword" on the film's page.

Helpful search engine: https://www.imdb.com/search/title/ Click on Feature Film and TV Movie. Then modify for the hints as they are posted.

- The winner can either start a new game or say "pass". In case of a pass, the OP gets to start another one.
- After 12 hints and 15 incorrect guesses the point goes to the OP and he/she gets to start another one.
- Movie must have at least 3500 IMDB votes. Otherwise, add a bonus hint. No documentaries.
- Maximum 2 guesses per player per hint.
- Can't edit a guess once posted. Delete ONLY
- Post one Hint at a time.

To see if your film title has been used in a previous game, do a Find search here:

Let's get it on!

Hint 1: One Magic Christmas (1985) - At least one Oscar nominee in the cast.
Hint 2: Zodiac (2007) - Character name in the title.
Hint 3: How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000) - VFA runtime under 2 hours.
Hint 4: Edward Scissorhands (1990) - Drama.
Hint 5: Flash Gordon (1980) - Boasts a positive review from Roger Ebert.
Hint 6: Juno (2007) - Green metascore.
Hint 7: Citizen Kane (1941) - The screenwriter plays a character in their own movie.
Hint 8: Poetic Justice (1993) - MPA rated R.
Hint 9: My Left Foot (1989) - IMDB rating is swimming in the 7s.
Hint 10: The Thomas Crown Affair (1968) - Romance.
Hint 11: Hedwig and the Angry Inch (2001) - Under 100,000 IMDB user votes.
Hint 12: Johnny Got His Gun (1971) - Los Angeles filming locations.

Ruby Sparks (2012) is the name, and the keeper of stones wins the game! This imaginative, fanciful movie features an engaging central performance from writer Zoe Kazan as well as her co-lead Paul Dano along with Annette Bening, Steve Coogan and Antonio Banderas doing some brilliant character work. Directed by the duo behind Little Miss Sunshine, this contains some similar idiosyncrasies that make it stand out, mostly in part due to Kazan's deft script. This lighthearted tale takes a lot from some older classics than it does from modern contemporaries, and it's all the better for it.

You're right, I did lose a million hints last year. I expect to lose a million hints this year. I expect to lose a million hints *next* year. You know, Mr. StoneKeeper, at the rate of a million hints a year, I'll have to close this place in... 60 years.
