Don't take your love away from me
Don't you leave my heart in misery
If you go then I'll be blue………………………………………………….

Breaking up is hard to do.... I think it's Neil Sedeka

Since you left me if you see me with another girl
Seeming like I'm having fun
Although she may be cute
She's just a substitute…because
You’re the permanent one

70s…- - -

He tried hard to help me
You know he put me at ease
And he loved me so naughty
Made me weak in the knees

I’m mildly shocked this wasn’t answered….Hownos would’ve nailed this one….

reply

Hmmmm...this is familiar...Canadian singer? I just can't place if it's male or female so I'm having issues. Hahaha

reply

Okay, are you joking , S, or are you serious?

Maybe I should change “mildly” to “extremely”?

This artist (yes, Canadian) can go darker, and this is a bit tame, but this a big song, or I thought it was…

You messin’ with me , S? Lol, hahahaha, lmfao….

reply

I'm serious. I usually start with singing the lyrics in my head. I think I have to tune to this one, so that helps, but maybe I don't and that's why I can't place it. They are very familiar, but that doesn't mean I know it. I just get annoyed because my memory is usually rooted in music, like if I was studying, I always had music on, and then when I was stuck, I'd hum and it would come to me.

reply

Okay, I got you…

When you figure out the artist and song, you’ll understand my surprise…

I’ll give a hint on request: do you want another lyric or trivia about the artist/person?

reply

Maybe lyric as I'm pretty sure it's female as a male in the 70s wouldn't sing about a "he" like that

reply

‘… as I'm pretty sure it's female as a male in the 70s wouldn't sing about a "he" like that”

Haha, you got that right…

I didn’t go with the simpler lyrics, I went further into the song, plus I really like the lyrics I posted, great line…..

I want to warn anyone in proximity to Miss S to stand back, objects might start flying once she figures this out:

It's coming on Christmas
They're cutting down trees
They're putting up reindeer
And singing songs of joy and peace…………………

… Givin' me head on the unmade bed
While the limousines wait in the street
Those were the reasons that was New York
We were runnin' for the money and the flesh
And that was called love for the workers in song
Probably still is for those of them left

reply

Leonard Cohen....I can't remember the name. Hotel something

reply

☑️…Chelsea Hotel #2

Don’t know much of the Cohen catalog but always liked this one…and it fit the theme

And apparently it’s not about what I originally thought it was about….or there’s more to the story/song. Supposedly, Cohen and Janis Joplin had a thing— this may have been news or common knowledge but I didn’t know. Shyt, when this song came out I was sipping on Similac . I wasn’t exposed to Cohen until much later…

reply

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh
Baby
My heart is full of love and desire for you
So come on down and do what you got to do
You started this fire down in my soul
Now can't you see it's burning out of control
So come on satisfy the need in me
'Cause only your good lovin' can set me freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

reply

Don't Leave Me This Way, I don't think I ever knew who sang it. Disco.

reply

☑️….Thelma Houston, the more well known disco version

Originally, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes , with Teddy Pendergrass; the downbeat, soulful version

I likes ‘em both, good stuff

Cheers…

You've turned away on your side
Is my timing that flawed
Our respect runs so dry
Yet there's still this appeal
That we've kept through our lives……………………………
