Hey S, the one directly below this one- it’s a little silly, but if I gave the hint “Big Daddy Hollingsworth,” would you get it then?

reply

Hmmmm, Blanche's dad right? I remember the episode when he became a singer. Is it from that episode?

reply

Yes. After being on the road for a bit, I came home looking for some GG reruns and watched this episode, one of my faves. The song had a lot to be desired but it was funny how he was so whimsically determined. Sophia on fire in this ep, putting a curse on a neighbor when he refuses to remove his tree from the lanai after a windstorm.

Good times…

80s ?

Folks say I should settle down
And make an honest livin’
But I just want to sing my songs
I gotta whole lot to give ‘em

It ain't gonna worry me for long
It ain't gonna worry me for long
I'll get up in the mornin’
And I'll still be singing my song

Comin' out for the Hawsker mad bull
Jumpin on the hot seat, lyin' in the dead pool
Delivery quake, expensive mistake
The damage, the damage, the damage, the damage

There's a warm summer breeze that makes the red poppies dance
And look how the sun shines from under the clouds
There's no gas, no barbed wire, there's no guns firing now
But here in this graveyard it's still No Man's Land
The countless white crosses stand mute in the sand
To man's blind indifference to his fellow man
To a whole generation that were butchered and damned

reply

And now every April I sit on my porch
And I watch the parade pass before me
And I watch my old comrades, how proudly they march
Reliving old dreams of past glory
And the old men march slowly, all bent, stiff and sore
The forgotten heroes from a forgotten war
And the young people ask, "What are they marching for?"
And I ask myself the same question
