October 1: Squirrel Awareness Month starts today!

When you are out and about, be sure to take notice of our Finer Rodents!

Let's show them some respect for reminding us that there is much more to life than property values.

Whether they are bushy-tailed, skinny-tailed, tree-dwelling, ground-dwelling, or even the frequent flyers, squirrels are worthy of our appreciation for their vivacious, never-ending celebration of life and their diligent hard-work toward pursuing their goals.

And while we can enjoy them all through the year, leaving out some easily-accessible food and water would be a nice way to say "thank you" to these magnificent, fun-loving creatures during this special month.

Have fun, and stay aware!

Sounds made up but OK...I'll play

We have the Gray, the Red and the Glider types here...magnificent little creatures and very cute

They can also be destructive little pains in the ass if they nest up in the attic!
They can really have a go at your wiring and insulation:/

A non-lethal Hav-A-Hart trap baited with peanut butter and white bread is the best way to catch them up under the eaves...once caught simply drop them off at a distant park, no harm, no foul...

Cute little critters and I admire their work ethic, but I have had some rough times with them

Happy Squirrel month🎈🎈🎈

It's real - I just Googled it!

As always I will take your word Andy

reply

I must admit, I was sceptical.

reply

I think November is Raccoon
month...I might have just made that up but why not?

reply

December could be Fox month (not the TV channel).

reply

I figured December to be 'Sexy Snow Woman Month' but I wont argue

I like how they sprint along the power lines. Very nimble.

About 10 years ago, at an apartment I used to live in, I made friends with a squirrel. He used to come and just chill outside on a bench with me, and I fed him sunflower seeds. Sometimes he would sit right on my leg.

We have a huge oak tree in our front garden, which is home to a family of squirrels. I've named one 'yellowface' and if I ever feel down, watching them scamper about soon cheers me up. Yes, they do make holes in my lawn, but I don't mind.
