Stonekeeper's September Game: I recommend THIS Mystery Movie #630 - Get Down, Get Dirty [LauraGrace throws down with some RISKY BUSINESS]

Who's up for it?

I have a movie in mind and you have to guess which one it is. For each movie you guys are going to guess, I will give a hint that CONNECTS your guess with the movie I have in mind.

Example of connections: Actor, length, genre, aspect ratio, language, country, year, director, writer in common, rating, number of votes, nominations. It can even be something like: both movies involve a love triangle.
Helpful search engine: https://www.imdb.com/search/title/

- The winner can either start a new game or say "pass". In case of a pass, the OP gets to start another one.
- After 12 hints, the point goes to the OP and he/she gets to start another one.
- Movie must have at least 3500 votes. Otherwise, add a Bonus Hint

Let's get it on!

Hint 1: The Crossing Guard (1995) - Oscar winner in the cast.
Hint 2: Rust and Bone (2012) - THE BOSS (Bruce Springsteen) is on the soundtrack.
Hint 3: Cop Land (1997) - Director has writing credit.
Hint 4: Joy (2015) - Drama genre in common.
Hint 5: Limbo (2001) - IMDB rating is swimming in the 6's.
Hint 6: Jersey Girl (2004) - Runtime under 2 hours.
Hint 7: Maggie's Plan (2015) - MPAA rated R.
Hint 8: Running with Scissors (2006) - Comedy genre in common.
Hint 9: Warm Bodies (2013) - USA/English.

LauraGrace once again nails it with Risky Business (1983), the movie that features Tom Cruise's star-making lead role in a quintessential coming of age tale with John Hughes levels of insight, drama, and multidimensional characters.

A caveat, though: As recommendable as this film is, I would suggest watching it paired with the alternate ending instead of the theatrical one. For one thing, it shows how editing and the final shots can entirely alter a movie's impact.

The Crossing Guard (1995)

It's a little cryptic that the first guess out of the gate contains the line: "Whatever you are doing Freddy, stop it."

reply

there;s also a Springsteen song in the film

reply

Indeed, but how fun would it be to divulge all the hints at once?

reply

I just like to take note of co-incidences, when they happen in my life.
(even though they never make any kind of sense)

reply

If coincidences are coincidences, then why do they feel so contrived?

reply

you could hypothesize that some thing is trying to tell you something

Rust and Bone (2012)

I already recommended that one long ago. Want a hint anyway?

Joy (2015)

She'd put up with just about anything... until when she had to bring the hint down - she brought the hint down.
