Yes, even my kids put them on. We started a year or two ago because it was getting harder to understand dialogue. I thought it was my speakers so I changed, didn't help, changed again, didn't help. I think the audio is over compressed. British shows are the worst for it.

I'm in the habit of using the captioning/subtitles because too often the sound can be uneven, the background music too loud, actors mumble, or the accent is sometimes hard to understand (I watch a lot of British fare and I keep thinking I should be better at understanding them, but no).
