I think Dazed even liked the video...and the last time I saw her was on a milk carton!

Some of you folks need to head over to YouTube as a means of cleaning that egg of y'alls
Face!!! Just sayin ✊

Does someone need to show how ugly it can get when folk's personal details are known?

Because I know an entire forum of folk who would be more than happy to show how uncomfortable that would be to an unknowing subject.

Croft used to post there, apparently, and they keep that knowledge for life.

Be careful with your online persona folks - when it's gone; it's gone forever.

I don't really understand your interventions to be honest.

I can chose what information to show on my youtube profile. I posted videos for an entire decade, I was like an open book and I am very confortable. Of course we are never safe from hackers but I doubt thats what you are talking about.

Juror 8 is speaking from the position of himself using personal details of others in his petty little e-battles.

reply

Spanners, you sharing your personal details openly was your lesson in not verifying someone being just as much of a dick to you as you were being to others.

Completely different story.

When you published "Harry has posted my picture on The Dark Knight Rises boards" on the Prometheus boards of IMDb you allowed other people to trace back who you were and that didn't go well for you. The image in question was completely on-topic for the thread at hand and wasn't identifiable or stand out.

The point still stands that certain people will go far too far with someone's personal information and make their real life space a little worse for doing so.

People have to be a little smarter with this, at least have an account solely for use with their online persona(s).

I'm not saying you are a bad person StoneKeeper and I'm certainly not saying that you are the defacto person who people should be worried about.

I'm just stating that if people fall into the habit of upvoting a video with few upvotes than they are likely to be identified by that uploader if they are not on top of all their privacy settings.

It's one thing to like a video of you rapping (Great job by the way) but if that starts to become a habit then unscrupulous people might try and take advantage of it (And they will - that is a fact).

reply

NOOP! Not going down that road with you juror! Got too much respect for ya...as I hope you have for me...hell...I don't even so much disagree with you. But I decided to step out of my comfort zone and I don't feel the worse for it😎 not saying you should try it...just try not knocking it...besides...it seems pretty kosher...got this handy security check up gadget...and a techtard like me even figured a work around that disappeared my name from the system😮
Oh...and Dazed...a person with a screen name that included Dazed in it posted a comment on stones video...no searching or nefarious actions required...hell...might not have been her...i suppose coincidences do happen😉 anyway...good talking with you my man!!!

reply

It's all good Df, I'm just making sure that people who aren't as on top of their privacy settings as you may be don't find themselves grinding with trolls on platforms which might have their personal information available.

You might claim to be a techtard but you've at least got a gadget, some people here might not and it would be worth their while to keep on top of things like that.

I'd highly suggest people create a new profile on YouTube solely for the purpose of interacting with MC members' videos. We've got reviewers and now rappers - who knows where it could go (Hangout sessions perhaps?).

The Internet is a lot of fun, just keep an eye on the rearview mirror as there are some on the information superhighway who don't drive as well as others 😉

reply

Its always a pleasure discussing things with you juror! And not only do I agree with your points...i highly respect your willingness to buck trends with a mindfulness for internet safety! I went into the YouTube thing very skeptically...willing to split at the first sign of funk...and I will add that they DO ask for a lot of info...much is volentary, but not blatantly advertised as such...so you're correct again...peop!e need to be there own best advocate and having someone to remind them of unforeseen pitfalls is honorable in my eyes! One thing we won't ever discuss...my joining Twitter Face of Space...still to private for that! You have a good day my friend!!!
