Hit Shows You Have Little or No Interest In

Spinning off a mini-discussion in another thread …

For me:

Game of Thrones -- never seen it, not interested
The Walking Dead -- ditto
Breaking Bad -- saw the premiere, lost interest halfway through
The Sopranos -- interested enough to watch the first half of the first season, then lost interest
Buffy the Vampire Slayer

The Walking Dead, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and nearly all reality tv and crime shows.

Breaking Bad: Saw the first season, started the second one and never finished.
Dexter: Saw the first season and did not like how it ended
GOT: saw the first two seasons, liked it but didn't feel like investing the time.
The walking Dead: Never saw one episode
Prison Break: on my watchlist ever since...

I am just not a 'serious TV show' kinda guy. The best ones for me yet has been Dr House, Fargo and The get down.
Right now Im watching Preacher and Daredevil.
Everything else is more on the comedy side.

Buffy came at the exact right time for me /I was a teen when I watched it/. I don't know how I'd feel about it now, though.
And I do like GoT.

...

Those Shonda Rhimes shows /Scandal, Grey's Anatomy, How to Get Away With Murder/
Mad Men - I have a little interest to be fair, but I can never bring myself to start it
Most of the new "teeny bopper" shows - Pretty Little Liers, The Originals, etc.
Most of the superhero shows /Legion is awesome! Saw Jessica Jones, didn't get the appeal/
And probably lots and lots others, but they escape me.

I have and have had no interest in any of the other shows you mentioned, and some may be good, even excellent, but I can't say, not having seen them.

But knowing you as the intelligent and thoughtful person as I've consistently known you to be through your posts, Mad Men is THE most thoughtful and intelligent show I've ever seen on TV. It's become my gold standard. The trick is, you HAVE TO pay very close attention to all dialogue, and to everything, otherwise you miss what's going on. It's not a lazy watcher's show; you can't be texting, drifting off in thought, or doing anything else when you're watching it.

It may not appeal to you for a variety of personal tastes, but as far as an extraordinarily tightly written and acted show, it can't be beat.

After that review I have to at least check out an episode or two, see if it hooks me. I'd like to think that I have a pretty eclectic taste, I'll just have to wait for the "right mood" to hit me.
