Anyone know - I am new to Netflix and I am just wondering.
shareMost Netflix content is streamed in 1080p (or 4K for select shows, if you have a 4K tv).
Most cable content is only 720p (though sports are sometimes in 1080i)
So basically Netflix resolution is usually higher than cable
Hmm, maybe because Netflix is set to High rez (3 GB for 1 hr for HD and 7GB for 1 hr for Ultra HD) when you open an account. I couldn't handle it eating up my data, and the Low rez, .3 GB per hour is good enugh for me. Check your Playback Settings under your account and choose.
I rarely watch in Ultra. I can't get the screen enlarged on my tv, and yes, we've tried EVERYTHING. So it's the lap or nothing.
Only way to get more people to subscribe. Netflix put all their marketing budget on better resolution quality.
shareAnother thing to note, if you are watching Netflix on your PC, for some reason, it will only play at 1080p on the Microsoft Edge browser.
If you use Chrome or Firefox or anything else, it will default to 720p and never go any higher. I don't know why this is, but just a thing to know if you want the highest quality possible while viewing your streamed movies on PC/laptops. Although, with smaller screens, it probably wouldn't be that noticeable of a difference anyways.
Microsoft Edge is an improvement over the previous Internet Explorer, but I still don't like using it.
I've noticed that as well, I recently started streaming Netflix thru my laptop onto my tv and noticed a significant difference in quality on Edge. I'm pretty damn sure it's even higher rez than playing Netflix on my Xbox one...I think.
shareI did not know this. I have not used a MS browser for at least 10 years, I use both Chrome and Firefox these days.
my laptop is not that big though so it's still not going to make me switch to Edge.
