Saving Private Ryan and Casualties of War are my two favorites, just extremely powerful movies that capture the hell of war.
Platoon- Love how intense it is and how it shows how much war screws with soldiers minds.
The Hurt Locker- Might be the most realistic of all these movies. Definitely deserved it's best picture win.
Apocalypse Now- Really like how visually stunning it is and how great the acting is by Brando, Sheen, Duvall, and Hopper.
Full Metal Jacket- When D'Onofrio shot R Lee's is one of the most chilling scenes in movie history imo.
Hamburger Hill- Deserves to be more well known, such a great, fun movie.
Black Hawk Down- Kinda feels like a video game but still a very thrilling movie with one of my favorite last lines in any movie ever.
The Thin Red Line- Little slow but gets better as it goes along with a lot of intense action that leaves you feeling exhilarated.
We Were Soldiers- Very good drama and action especially in the last half hour.
Some of these I definitely need to watch again cause of how long it's been. But they're all pretty badass imo.

You copy pasted all the posts from the original thread? That's dedication, lol

I actually feel like rewatching some of these war movies while reading this thread.

Have you seen Hamburger Hill or Casualties of War? Always fun bringing up lesser known movies like that to people.

Yes, I have both on dvd. Hamburger Hill isn't that great but Casualties of War is one of my favourites. It shocked me when I saw it as a kid. It's been a while since I've seen so I took out the dvd, I think I'm going to watch it tonight.
