It could be referring either to her time filming on Hurry Sundown where the entire cast was receiving threats from the KKK for filming in on location the Louisiana area or the fact that her ICP Campaign events met with a lot of counterprotests from the Klan, which she states here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Pq6G5bS8Yk (marked 1:25) I'm not even saying it's necessarily a bad thing that she's been so outspoken over the last fifty something years that she's made enemies I just find it interesting because at least with Kanye, Elon or Roseanne there's multiple compilations out there listing the number of people or organizations they've got into it with and why it happened but with Jane Fonda there's nothing like that out there Even compared to other celebrities on that site with similar beef count lists that's a pretty high number tho - Her list count is higher than Roseanne Barr, Rosie O'Donell, Kathy Griffin, Ted Nugent, Kanye, and Elon Musk - although not as many as Donald Trump which isn't saying very much I can't really control whether people choose to prefer the remake to the original, but the push by fans of the film to get people to agree that the remake is superior - and by extension to call those who disagree racist - just comes off as over the top and a little forced to me. I will say that Arianna DeBose was probably the best part of the remake and might even be better than Rita's own take on the character. Ironically, Rita's addition to the 2021 film's cast is the part I care least about (outside of Rachel Zegler - which don't even get me started). I might have been more appreciative about Rita's being included if she hadn't spent the last decade plus badmouthing Natalie Wood - who not only is no longer alive to defend herself but from what I can tell never said anything negative about Rita. Also, the claim that the remake follows the stage play more closely is a flawed argument from the jump - if this were true the film's "America" number wouldn't be between the Sharks and their girlfriends but would have been exclusively among the women (which tbh always made more sense to me anyway - it's less believable that all the men/women would share the exact same viewpoint). It definitely takes way more cues from the 1961 version than people care to admit. But, then on the opposite side of the coin, other elements of the original stage musical were changed that are almost inexplicable (Tony's background, the Doc gender swap, etc.) At the end of the day, if people came away thinking they were part of something special, and if the fan following for the remake gets more people to check out the original, I'd say it's a net positive. But the fact that there's still even a debate about which is superior now over 60 years out says something, as does the fact that it has continued to turn up on lists of the greatest American movies ever made (at least of the 20th Century which is very much a done deal). I'd like to see where the 2021 turns up in -say -2098 or 3007 "Charlie Goes to Juvenile Hall?" That sounds like a Roald Dahl parody! Lol @ Charlie if he got sent to Juvenile Hall in Chicago. 99% sure he'd beg to be back at that bougie suburb school getting lightly taunted occasionally lmao Johnny was pretty keen to get nude in those days between The Naked Ape, Great Dynamite Chase, and - practically - Indian Paint. He was apparently a member of the American Sunbathing Association back in the day and frequented the Ponderosa Ranch in Texas when it was still open. I think I read somewhere he was one of the first celebrities to be open about being a naturist Yes but Blanche and Rose become nuns! It's perfect! The side plot was equally dumb tbh and was further proof that Dorothy tolerated Sophia's nonsense way more than I or alot of other people ever could. In addition to the fact that she walked off of a nationwide commercial that was gonna pay hella $$ because she hadn't even bothered to taste the pizza until that very moment (and that she didn't mind that her own daughter got demoted in said commercial) it's strongly implied that the reason Dorothy sucked so badly during filming was because she had been stayed up to get Rose through the withdrawal the night prior (she mentions having to get up early the following morning for the commercial and very clearly stays awake until dawn) - a plot device that only even happened because Sophia knocked the pills into the sink and didn't mention it until it was too late in the first place smdh Audios a little out of sync though, otherwise a good watch lol BTW Gordon Scott Tarzan vs. Mike Henry Tarzan who would win lol Yeah here's the link again: https://www.tokyvideo.com/video/tarzan-and-the-jungle-boy-1968 Good watch View all replies >
