I did, and Cronenberg’s film is superior to the book. It’s much like The Shining and The Shawshank Redemption in that way.
Because unimportant details that a broad audience wouldn’t immediacy recognize from a storytelling perspective do absolutely nothing to move a plot along.
This is a movie, not real life.
I thought it was a very realistic depiction of what a person’s confused feelings might be in a situation like that.
