The Elephant Man. Apologies if this is a generic or predictable response but this film just has sadness and hopelessness seeping through it as far as I’m concerned. I genuinely sobbed the first time viewing it and I go out of my way to avoid it intentionally nowadays, even though I know it’s a masterpiece of cinema. I do love that song so much. I think the fade in adds to the haunting atmosphere. When I visited Finland, I tried reindeer tagliatelle at an airport restaurant. It was quite a strong but pleasant flavour and I feel quite guilty for saying that as they’re such beautiful creatures, but it was the only thing on the menu that sounded ok. 😅 I’m imagining a fair few people can attribute their deep-rooted fear of abduction by aliens with that movie. 😆 Rheinhardt and Geraldine/ Colores Para Delores by Kevin Ayers. You’ll understand why when you hear it. There were plenty of films. They were usually quirky, low budget films from the 80’s-90’s. I was terrified of Fire in the Sky, Watcher in the Woods, Return to Oz, The Haunting (the 1963 one, not the terrible remake) etc. Anything to do with the unknown with dark, unusual and shocking scenes. I was terrified and fascinated in equal measure. I think they have the potential to be really good but I’d argue that they’re inherently flawed. I worry that modern day technology and general cynicism makes it incredibly difficult nowadays to pull them off as ‘genuine’ found footage films, the same way the Cannibal Holocaust and Blair Witch Project phenomenon played out years ago. Rome Mr Robot The Wire https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qMz4MA2X-98 I find the harmonica to be a bit jarring 😬 Tea for One or Achille’s Last Stand for me, partially because they haven’t been overplayed to me so much. They’re an amazing band though and have so many great songs that my opinion will have probably changed within the year. Wigwam I like your taste in music 👍 Argus is one of my all time favourite prog rock albums. Personal happiness is the most important, I would argue personally. Everyone is different with different needs. For some, relationships don’t factor into that idea at all-it could be about charitable causes, their career, the pursuit of knowledge etc. Watching it as we speak. It still holds up as one of my all time favourites. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sog3etUwtSk&t=19s I visited St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle several years ago with my Dad when I was quite young and seemed to ‘accidentally bump’ into one interred king or significant historical figure after another. Both myself and my dad are huge history buffs (he used to read to me about kings and queens to get me to go to sleep as a kid). I know it’s silly but seeing the tombs of these historical figures was a huge reality shock to me. They were suddenly transported from legend/mystery to cold reality. Agreed- Excalibur is a very special movie to me for so many reasons. Thank you! Yes, the whole thing is ..quite the experience. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qIqY-zvdESQ Someone posted this on here a while back and it cracks me up every time.
