Stratego, beats me! I am awful at them also but since emojis are so cute, I will peek at this thread periodically and see if I can figure anything out. :D Oh okay! I don't get it at all but I haven't seen that movie (that would probably help). Yeah, about Alice Cooper, my dad definitely got a little freaked out over lyrics about Dead Babies, and Elton John wanting to burn down a mission, LOL. I knew every chord, every word of those songs. Iron Butterfly, too! There was some truly great music back then. What was the answer to this one? I haven't looked at the answer yet! I see green apple red apple beer house and three bricks? pencils? something? LOL Thanks! I probably won't play the games (I'll have a look around, though) :D I do see quite a lot of threads have been created today so it looks like you guys have been having fun! I wasn't really into Joni at the time but I did forget to mention the Monkees; you guys were talking about who you liked in the Beatles and the Monkees. For me, when I was very young I was into Paul, and when I got a little older I liked both Paul and John, favoring John. In the Monkees, I liked Mickey. Well, I liked ALL of them but Mickey was my favorite. Hi! Just wanted to stop by with my cup of coffee (boring, I know) :D and say Happy Anniversary to Moviechat! Thank you, MovieMan! Thank you, Stratego! Will do. I have posted in a few movie and show discussions so far. :D Thank you! Do you prefer croft or alice? Agreed! Meryl Streep I may try one more episode and then call it quits. I'm not laughing, either, and the jokes seem very stale. Everything feels like I have seen it a million times already -- and on this show, the first time around! Hahaha! I'll be sure to be on the lookout! I'll have an expired credit card at the ready, and perhaps a fake winning lottery ticket. And someone to greet you at the airport: "Welcome to the United States!" I liked the original show, and maybe the reboot will transfer well, but I have no interest in seeing it! First, 10 years of the show was enough. It was a great show; I want to keep my memories of it intact. Second, I have no love of news networks these days. ANY of them. I originally thought the recent wave of "nostalgia shows" would be great, but now, not so much. Thanks, Dazed! I don't give out a lot of personal info so I'll leave it vague and say "in the United States." :D Hope that's okay. Thanks for the welcome! Candice Bergen was hilarious in that show. The way she would deliver her lines as Murphy Brown made me howl. She was very funny in "Starting Over" with Burt Reynolds. She plays a phenomenal straight man in Murphy Brown. And that is why she is so funny. "Straight man" pretty much defines her role as Murphy Brown: From wiki: "The straight man is a stock character in a comedy performance, especially a double act, sketch comedy, or farce. When a comedy partner behaves eccentrically, a straight man's response may range from aplomb to outrage, or from patience to frustration, but never laughter, making the partner look all the more ridiculous by being completely serious. The ability to maintain a serious demeanor in the face of even the most preposterous comedy is crucial to a successful straight man. Whatever direct contribution to the comedy a straight man provides usually comes in the form of deadpan. A straight man with no direct comedic role has historically been known as a stooge." My dad took me to a concert in 1971. I got into three entirely different styles of bands at that age simultaneously -- The Partridge Family, Alice Cooper, and Eric Clapton. And I loved The Beatles. And the Monkees! Elton John had just released 11-17-70, what an amazing album and one of my all-time favorites of his. I only just found out this past week about David. Very sad. I am probably going to make another thread so people can post any positive memories or links to favorite videos (we can post sad stuff somewhere else if needed ... it will just be a happy thread). Har! So true.
