I can't agree with u more. JJ made starships uncessary in Star Trek. In a similar move, in Star Wars you can also teleport anywhere and no War in Star Wars required. Thanks JJ, u completely ruined 2 beloved franchises.
This was made by a collaboration of filmakers at the height of their careers - firing on all cylinders. Also George Lucas had the trilogy mapped out better. But the real genious was probably irvin Kershner who got the best performances out of everyone and Gary Kurtz for producing this marvel. I have a hard time believing Kasdan (the genius behind Solo - A Star Wars story???) wrote this, I think the clever parts must of come from the late Leigh Bracket.
It was a big, bold follow up to the biggest film of all at the time. They took the time and care to get it right. With probably the best movie soundtrack you will ever hear. This is simply a masterpiece.
Started and ended by the great JJ- Abrahms. He is the same guy who killed the Star Trek reboot in less than .5 movies by jumping the shark - no starships required, beam anywhere.

Yes JJ is soooo clever. In less than one movie rebooting Star Trek - the franchise jumped the shark and was bankrupt of ideas. No starships, and Kirk riding around in a motocross. Wow.

I don't agree with it dragging at all. I may have thought so when I was a wee lad. Overtime, as I come to appreciate filmaking and truly what is GREAT - I don't think it drags at all.
Compared with the absolute crap churned out by the likes of Zack Synder, JJ Abrahams, Michael Bay this movie is a wondrous standard that will never be equalled.
I CANNOT AGREE with you more my friend. Every aspect of filmaking is at it's very pinnacle on display at it's finest here. A feast for the eyes, ears, imagination and heart. This is a BIG, IMPORTANT and EPIC movie.

Never forget, JJ is a copycat filmaker. He is incapable of creating original content and aping far superior filmakers. Lookit his reboot Star Trek - in less than .5 of the reboot he jumps the shark and runs out of ideas in a franchise klling second movie. He and Rian roundhead killed Star Wars.

You should do yourself a favor and watch Star Trek: The Motion Picture. This is a truly a test to see if you can appreciate a good movie. It's big, it's important and epic. It's more like 2001 A Space Odyssey - also a challenging watch for this generation. Sounds like you are just a pew-pew pew fan. That's not what Star Trek is about. I almost threw up when you said Abrams first Star Trek was the best of the bunch - what a joke. This is the one where halfway in the convoluted plot they made starships obsolete and you can just beam anywhere right? Then a mere one movie later they killed the franchise Last Jedi style by borrowing from superior movies, trying to be clever and transposing iconic dialogue. JJ is a total hack.
