I took it as he wanted some additional income before being laid off for two months. He'd overheard the hat's owner saying how important the hat was. So he bribed the coat check gal with a few bucks, then likely got way more than his money back when he returned the hat to the rich owner. I lost track of some of the characters. I don't recall if the hat owner showed up in any other scenes, but like others posted, he might now want to help Vigo's character in some way(s). I wouldn't have been surprised to learn they'd sent him to a 'home' or school or treatment center. But that they didn't leave his bedroom intact just didn't seem right. They had their struggles with him, but they sure didn't come across like people who'd just cut their son out of their life! Absolutely agree! Just watched it this morning, and surprised to see at least twice on dvd case it's said to be a 'comedy.' I'd absolutely put it into 'drama' category. I found little 'comedic' about it. Hi, just read something you posted years ago, mentioned An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge. I thought I'd seen all the Twilight Zone stuff, but this was new to me. Thanks for referring to it as I enjoyed watching the abridged version just now. When an innocent party is killed, those who loved that person/persons go on to hate whoever did the killing. They then might say come to the US and set off a bomb during a marathon? She wanted to buy her Mama and Papa hula hoops so they could hula hoop with her. She had loving, not greedy, intentions. Then her parents know Americans killed their beloved daughter, so they dedicate their lives to hating/killing Americans. They kill Americans, and then Americans want to kill their people. And the wars just go on and on. LOL - great reply! He wouldn't have been able to raise all that if he wasn't a big shot cyclist. So it's okay if I rob from a bank if I donate the money to charity? If he donates something - it ought to be to the guys who didn't win previous races, but who would have if they'd all be riding clean. If I were a clean rider, and lost to the drug users, I'd be so mad. I got the impression he wasn't liking not being in the spotlight anymore. His younger teammate was now winning and getting to stand on the highest step, while Lance was relegated to the third/lowest step. He seemed to crave being in spotlight, having people pay attention to him. He got more attention by confessing. Why'd he disclose on Oprah?!!! I figure because, again, he liked being in the spotlight. I was also wondering about that. Can't think of any other income she'd have except from her ex. A big house, utilities, food, gas - she wasn't making any money. Then the son moved in with his dad's family, so the mom would have even less coming in. Like someone else posted, maybe the former husband felt guilty and was paying her more than she would have been legally able to get? I was gonna complain about the lines on her face on the movie cover, but .... 'started out great' - well, those that jump to see a movie as soon as it's released, and probably when theatre will be crowded and possibly noisy - are super eager for the movie. Like the plot or actors or genre. They already like such movies, so sure, the first reviews will be better than from those who wait awhile to see it. That's my 2 cents anyway. First, thanks for defining yourself as 'mostly gay guy.' I'm a 58 yr old woman who was with three women back in the early 90s, been with no one, male or female, not even a kiss, since about 92. Honestly, it feels so odd to say, but thanks to your openness I'll say it, I don't know WHAT I am. asexual maybe? Happier than most it seems like though, so many people struggle in their intimate relationships. Anyway, I don't think I'd enjoy a live opera or ballet performance, I've seen a bit on tv or a scene in a movie - just not my thing. But if someone invited me to go, I might give it a try, and find out I was right, just not my thing. Or I might be surprised and like it. Isn't that kind of the same as a person giving same sex a try? They're interested but don't know if they'd like it or not, so they try it. I kinda admire that. The same could be said for foods - there are foods I've never tried, and knowing what they are can even be a turnoff - bull testicles or raw ants or fried grasshoppers as examples. But I'd like to think I might give it a taste test - just because I like it when I'm bold. I don't think this applies to Chris Cooper's character in the movie - more of a reply to those arguing that if a person tries gay sex, that means they're gay. Why did they scalp him? I didn't see them using the scalps for anything, and not much to eat from a scalp. I wondered that also - would the babies be eaten? Or raised? There was one younger cannibal, I think the one who's throat whistle got removed, he was clearly younger than the others. But I just can't see toddlers toddling around that cave. And if they were girl babies, I'm thinking the women just get eaten or used as baby factories. Why wouldn't there have been adult female cannibals? I'm confused why they scalped him. I didn't see scalps anywhere else, yet they'd already killed one or two others from town, right? Cannibalism-wise, I doubt a scalp is a delectable. I know it's sometimes what 'Indians do' - but these were not typical 'Indians' So yeah, why'd they scalp him? He only got hired by Adam because Adam knew how good he was. I doubt he'd have gotten hired by anybody else, as who'd want to eat where one of the cooks had had rats in his kitchen? Same here. I actually cringed while watching it. You just don't treat cookware that way. The whole movie implied he was some fantastic chef, yet that scene implied otherwise.
