hehe, telly savalas, right, when he shouts in the dark at the little girl: "i'm not your daddy!", yikes, alot of people have picked him, well i'm sorry, but i'm going to have to pick the cheaters, one thing i can't stand is a man who cheats, i mean they turn my stomach, i would have loved the episode "what's in the box" (both on tv and on twilight zone radio drama) but its been ruined cause of that reason, i suppose i can manage gregory west in "a world of his own" since he was cheating with an imagination. everything around him was probably made up and the only thing real was himself, sitting in "a world of his own", though i thought his first "creation" (as it turned out to be) was more interesting and neat than the one he created later, but as he said, he forgot to add human frailty to her and that she made him feel like a worm. i wonder how the line in that episode "make love" made it on tv in the 1950's, or perhaps that was cut back then but is featured on the dvd, of course today there are no limits and you can't have the tv on when you got company over. 📺 📻 sleepwalking, cursing kicking rubble, mind full of trouble, lost on a path of destruction, with last steps on the low road about to fall, rushed lightning in soul, in steps of two thousand years ago, to a land reality never seen experienced before, saved and transformed, pity the sleepwalker i was before. funny you should say that, because this is the only episode not adapted into a radio version on "twilight zone radio dramas", i have no idea why, after all they have remade tv episodes that had no dialogue! so in that way it literary stands out. as a huge fan of the radio dramas i really think this would have been appreciated as an audio only episode with that haunting tune, i suppose "jess belle" can work as a substitute, but i get what you mean about this episode, its really mystic, its hard to tell what its really about, i suppose its up to each one of us to make our own interpretation of it. here's a fact you might enjoy, this was the very last twilight zone episode to be filmed, but not the last to air. i happen to like the episode. 🌳 in summer evening, sunshine through the night, since you stayed nearby all through vacation time, knew chill was coming around my head hangin down, as because of economy you drifted far out of sight. i just caught this episode now on the history channel, i think it was a "best of" episode piece, there was a pop up box at the bottom of the screen with some facts and it said elvira had a part in diamonds are forever... what? i don't know if that's correct, i've seen that movie a thousand times and never spotted her, but there was other juicy stuff popping up too and everyone on the show seemed over the top and screaming their heads off, cassandra peterson seemed to be the only one there who was a bit sincere, but maybe it was cause how it was cut, still, you see an endless amount of shows like these now days, it said the car had been lost for ten years, how do you lose a car? hehe... reminds me of the old redneck joke about a guy mowing his lawn finding cars, i guess the car couldn't have been in the second elvira movie anyhow since that plot took stage in a past century. anyway, it was fun to see the show. 🚘 in the evenin as orange sun fall the on wall, long back home, away from this empty apartment floor, when the evenin train pass, feel like to a happy time ride back, i lost the good times, when darkness takes all light, dreamin of heaven people meet again, as im free as the wind, under moon driftin alone this belonging my only company. i was beating my brains out trying to recall where i had seen the actor playing noah, then i realised it was a much younger version of him from the twilight zone episode "number 12 looks just like you", perhaps the most terrifying twilight zone episode when you stop to think about it... "its just like that line we learn in school - life is pretty, life is fun, i am all and all is one" chilled me to the bone, and as it often has turned out with twilight zone quite relevant today this prophesy from the 1950's sci-fi, apparently i've seen him in "house on haunted hill" (assuming he was in the original) too reading these comments. anyway, noah also happen to have my favorite line of this movie, the comment he makes about taking a dogs life. notice the town's church is in about every outside shot. neat closing bit with edward g. robinson, reminded me of the closing of that great walter huston movie where huston played mr. scratch, "the devil and daniel webster" (1941). 🐶 ⛪️ in nature ladys spell, uses her well, in deep forest groovy tracks she make, beauty others cant compare cant take her place, urge for only her drawn back time and again, its just like the song goes, man, in peaceful dreams im led back to her path, camouflage guide at chilly autumn dark, still her out of this world magic forms me knocks, her well flow till i break though peter solid as a rock. were there things kept from the dream sequence during peg's pregnant period? this was kind of the "married with children" version of the infamous "dallas" series dream episodes where bobby got brought back to the series, though the married with children dream period doesn't seem to be mentioned as much (understandably considering the circumstances of dallas), i've been watching these episodes airing recently where peg was pregnant at the same time as marcy, and there were so many episodes that its kind of hard to keep track of everything that went on and if they kept anything from all those episodes later on, remember it was the whole "grandmaster b" period with bud, kelly got her own tv show, and remember the last of these episodes where al were working as a detective. those had some funny episodes in them and being a dream sequence didn't ruin everything, i happen to always mix these episodes together with the "seven" episodes who was suddenly dropped without explanation except a photo on a milk carton. 🏈 in suit calls for a serious matter, without fashion still through hours caught in distraction, her smooth skin left me speechless, sweating at the table by her cleavage, missed what the conversation was all about, as her boobies upstaged my mind, dont have an excuse, i was there and my ears were workin too, stuck in the universal language we all can understand, a pair of boobies set me in a trance. no way, that's how i feel about "to have and have not", not going by the play between bogart and bacall, but just as the quality of the movie in general, i had seen many bogart flicks when later i came by that and found it didn't feel as rich as other bogart movies, but this i couldn't get enough of, also much of the comments on this board is how edward g. robinson steals the show. 💨 🌪 🌫 🌊 💧 💦 your eye shadow made me blind, in darkness made my heart jump high, up my throat caught it with your tongue, with your mouth swirled it around, marked it in lipstick as you released it back down. goodness, reading through these lines i forgot what a rich movie this is, with great dialogue (as often with movies from this era), i used to tune into it whenever tcm aired it, and when that channel shut down where i live i had to get this flick on dvd. here's my favorite most memorable bit of lines from the movie: - "what's funny?" - "nothing" - "then why did you laugh?" - "i don't know" - "dumbell..." - "what's worse, curly, a dumbell or a wise guy?" - "a wise guy i guess". 🌪 🌫 🌊 💧 💦 another party night, come out and see, in the bar four seats, from sky bright light beams, as we roll, melt cant steer the road, in the laboratory, beasts transforming, we're driving them out, theyre tryin to destroy us tonight. check out little richard's version of this! on his 1970's recordings that were released on cd in 2016, the version played in this movie was the one i had been aware of for years then some of little richard's 1970's albums were recently released on cd where a version of this was featured, if that's to your liking, i can say that probably my favorite music recording of all time is little richard's 1986 album "lifetime friend" which opening track features the song that i've read little richard had a bit of a comeback hit with, which actually is another version than featured on the soundtrack to the movie "down and out in beverly hills" recorded in the same year. man, i've wished so bad that little richard would make a comeback in the 21st century as some other rock n roll pioneers from the 1950's, he sounds great on the few guest appearances he's made in later years on albums along with other artists like his version of cash's "get rhythm" (album kindred spirits, 2002), i probably heard that version as it was released and i still can't get enough of it!!! i like cash, but little richard sure can transform any tune to something else! another amazing tune they've both recorded is "rock island line". anyway, since we are sharing anecdotes, i was in a similar situation as the fella in this segment of the movie, and the stranger giving me a lift played this tune on his cd. quite a coincidence. "i heard there is no such thing as a coincidence" - twilight zone. 🎤 🎧 🎼 🎹 🥁 🎷 🎺 🎸 you zero in on the heart, twinkle your eye and make a hurricane start, with ease blow it around, as i cant fight what kind of being youve got inside, using the most beautiful woman as disguise, she blows me to the east, she blows me to the west, move my soul like spring air insect, maple leaf on windy autumn day, in any weather created by madeleine, plays on my chest for a laugh, till i worry for my heart. actually i kind of liked this in an otherwise series pretty put down when compared to the original, but perhaps a big part why i liked this episode had alot to do cause of the acting, its a bit strange to see a big star like mirren in an episode of an 80's tv series. i always thought the actress that plays the maid in this looks identical to cnn's paula newton. i don't remember much of the original tv episode but i know the story from twilight zone radio, and i like the ending to this version alot better, it kind of leaves you wanting to see more. i listened to the radio version again a few nights ago and realised they picked some of the narration from that episode to be featured in the 1983 twilight zone movie (assuming the narration is the same as to the tv episode). 👠 👡 i was driftin around, found no place to stay right, you came and tied me down, in magic wind blew my mind, with powerful weather games, where you seem to bend all the rules, helpless against your use of charm turning me into a fool, on the board move me like a pawn any which way, trippin in winnin streak sunshine paved, before you cut me loose to drift back in the wind, as i cant explain what you did. i saw the family guy spoof of this before the actual movie, which turned some scenes funny that weren't intended to be, and i actually had to turn the channel when at the railway bridge scene considering what happened to joe swanson, and almost expected stewie to turn up at the junkyard, i saw in the credits it had bruce kirby, i only knew the voice from twilight zone radio drama, one thing i missed from family guy was little richard!. i read a review of this and the only criticism was some words that seemed out of place for the 1950's. i'm not very familiar with this generation of actors and thought i was watching a fairly new movie, i can't believe how long donald sutherlands kid has been around. i didn't watch the movie from the start so i actually thought those older troublemaking kids were the 12 year olds portrayed later in young adulthood, so from that point of view it became quite surprising when they ran into each other by the end. 🛤 🚆 please come back where you belong, dont leave me with these chilly people alone, sucker for lucy smilin tease, cheer up brother pete. that was a low point of the movie i thought, its so obscene and i don't see why they most always got to go there these days, it can so easily become awkward to watch in the way they're not holding anything back anymore, i used to tune into tcm (turner classic movies) whenever i had company over to avoid any embarrassment, but then they started airing modern movies before shutting down the channel in the part of the world where i live. some of my favorite scenes in this was the odd company that the cable guy had managed to have picked up over the years as they were attending a party, and the way he constantly quotes lines from different movies, also when he won't admit having an obvious speech problem, well all around he's kind of a riot on his own no matter the quality of the movie, which i'm not sure if its suppose to have a serious side to it or not, and the main role, who were intended to be a victim of this cable guy, was kind of a dick and hard to take sides with. come to think of it, without the right casting this might have been an awful movie but under the circumstances becomes a real treat to watch. 📺 📡 there was a time this place was so hot, luscious darlin summertime long, tanned most beautiful women of all, out in the heating sun bringin fever at home, now im looking out glassy eyed, at this landscape empty and dry, nothing but memories, in morning shutting down the alarm clock beep, in hope to catch a dream, of the paradise this once used to be. - "you seem very jolly" - "jolly?" - "yes jolly, sort of happy" - "oooh... happy, yes i remember that. no, i'll report it if it happens, dear." - "well you look happy to me, basil." - "no i'm not, dear." - "all that dancing about, singing and rubbing your hands." - "just my way of getting through the day, dear. the samaritans were engaged." 🏚 other women tender and smooth, haunts the memory of you, as i wish you were in her shoes, reminded she dont compare in a sec or two, long back wish you were on this ground, wish you werent torturing my mind, soul urges for only nearness of you, wrapped all around my life tender and smooth. seems all picks for mel brooks least favorite movies are the later ones he made, many are mentioning people he's worked with on earlier films, that's what i felt this movie needed, more of mel brooks usual cast of comedians. his last two movies "robin hood" and "dracula" had been airing, so i thought i'd check out this third movie he made in the 1990's which i recall liking when i saw it years ago, but i must have mostly liked the setting and the story, this movie lacks jokes, i'm not sure its intended to be a comedy, it also looks quite cheap like a tv-episode or something, and i guess its the mel brooks movie that gets the least recognition, kind of strange how it stands out really, none of the trademark silly jokes, so i suppose this is my least favorite mel brooks movie and would really prefer his later "robin hood" (1993) and "dracula" (1995). too bad he stopped making movies and went into musicals and broadway instead. another thing that makes this movie stand apart from his others is that it hasn't been released with the usual trademark translated title that most mel brooks movies get in some countries... spring time for... right? perhaps its a mistake to expect a comedy, people seem fond of the message it brings instead, funny how the dvd i got of this doesn't even build it up. 🍲 tryin to find a substitute for you, even as youre gone you remain my muse, but all the color out of camelot, as you i keep long for, miss as time goes on, cant find any to fill, just one of your specialties. as i tuned into this it looked like a comedy and i wasn't sure what to make out of it, it actually makes the 1980's cannon movies appear as high quality productions, hurley looks like just a kid here and she had developed quite the screen performance about a decade later in "bedazzled", where i think she gives her best performance, a movie i really can't get enough of, i haven't even felt the need to check out the original 1960's piece its based on. i was surprised catching this airing on prime time after realising the quality of the movie. 🛩 ✈️ 🛫 🛬 rainy and dark, she broke through the clouds, made my mind float away, like a vibe of magic brain waves, to a sunny state, low as youre about to go, stay all day long, please dont leave me in this damp weather alone. this is the cause i remember too reading years ago. some of his guest appearances in later years were quite funny episodes though the series declined over the years, but what i really don't get is why they had him appear in that "radio episode" since the main cast was barely in that one. its always a downer to see his last episodes as a regular cast back in the 1980's, because you know parallel with that the series will start to go down hill from there. as this reruns in my country they start all over with episode 1 in 1987 after airing the series to the barely watchable last episode in 1997, that is quite the contrast to rewind to 1987. by the way, a lesser visible departure from the series, al's co worker who was only at the start of the series, i always thought they dropped him cause he was too similar to al bundy himself. there really wasn't any explanation to why he suddenly didn't appear with al in the shoe store anymore, but years later al showed he was at the cover of a shoe magazine. 📻 🎙 sleepin like a log, fallin cross road since youve been gone, cant walk another mile without you, my inspiration my fuel, richness of life day and night, sun water and cool, im going to sleep, no further if you leave, covfefe...zzzz. that could be said for much of entertainment progress, right in the kisser and nothing holding back... i tell you how this has aged compared to the original series, its like you get the idea this "the new twilight zone" should be remade in as 1959 episodes... i recognise alot of the players in this later series as they contain many of today's biggest stars, but let's face it, this is not the generation of actors packed in the 50's series, and then there is the awful 80's background music (as already pointed out on this board), and the dvd release i got on this was really terrible and didn't even have the episodes listed by titles properly on the dvd menu... the first episode i watched was a remake of this "after hours", kind of losing its eerie feeling of the original by adding more people in the episode, but a real surprise was ann hedgeworth, her voice would suit for "the twilight zone radio dramas", once you have heard her you never forget it, i remember i was so surprised when i found out her birthyear after watching her in 90's movies, she is old enough to have been in the original 1950's twilight zone series, i don't know if she's still around but if so she could have been in all versions of twilight zone including the great atmospheric radio adaptation of this. 🏬 🛍 🛒 programmed me like a robot, a manual to everything she please, pushed my buttons with ease, until she had it all worked out, tried to stand my ground, stared me down with dekko female eyes, to which i cannot tell a lie, revealed my soul dusted the tin off, turned me into her useful livin robot. exactly, the people i've watched this with and including myself feel the same way, it comes off like a really long movie, but in a good way, i always thought that just when you think this movie is about to end it sets on for a new turn to his home for a whole new adventure. notice the actor in this with a very small part as he is seen only making a face expression at the restaurant as dundee swings on a rope and crashes through a window that has a much bigger part over a decade later in bedazzled, i happened to catch it cause the two movies aired on the same day, that scene also includes the funny part where the guy asks if he should go after and the chief hands him the rope. 🤠 thought you were to go, leave me wantin more, dance on brain, in your mouth put my mind in play, throws her hair over my heart, scratch my land got my soul spark, puts me on a mountain top, in wilderness with steamy stormy weather for a laugh. yes, its mentioned real fast in passing at the end, it just went by me. i get the ending, but i figure as his body lays dead in the snow in present day, he has actually went to another time in willoughby. i would advise any fan of the twilight zone to check out the twilight zone radio dramas, i'm surprised if not everyone has, they stay true to the original tv series and sometimes have added things supposed to be in the legendary episodes forced out cause of budget. 📞 🚞 🚂 ☀️ 🕰 📅 🚃 🛤 🚇 ❄️ wife #3 became 1st lady a stop at willoughby seem to be viewed by many as a sombre story with a depressing ending, but i always looked at it as a positive episode, obviously he is troubled through much of the time and reaches a breaking point, but he meets the kind woman on the train (she is not in the tv episode, but in the radio drama) as they talk about this place he longs for that no one else has heard about in the present day, and finally he steps off at this town willoughby. for a long time i looked/listened to this without catching the "willoughby funeral parlour" in the end but i think the episode worked just as good without that last twist. 📞 🚞 🚂 ☀️ 🕰 📅 🚃 🛤 🚇 ❄️ used to think you were made of steel, but since showed frailty, view of you changed, became more solid than yesterday. i didn't expect much of this after reading some liked mel brooks 1995 spoof of dracula better, but this wasn't a bad movie at all, what really helps this too is all the comedians, i forgot dom deluise was in it. i first saw this years ago but forgot what it was like, the "p off / "p on" line was so silly still it becomes funny, as the cardboard scene, and i remember well from before i really found the bridge passing scene funny, still did!. notice how they repeat many jokes from earlier mel brooks movies such as where the camera crashes through a window, the hangman and "its good to be the king", even a former mel brooks title is mentioned. 🏊🏻‍ 🎯 your sexy ways of talkin, on my mind doin your lip walkin, fire in your eye, wakes my spirit from under ground, like a venus being out of this reality like, from dust makes my body rise, at my grave you stand guard, raise spirit your energy i feed of.
