happy halloween, i thought it was a good time to rewatch this, i just can't get enough of this movie it seems, spot on how this is oddly warm and comforting. "he must have noticed my wedding ring" was kind of a mean joke. the police that pulls marion crane over in the beginning of the movie actually looks a bit scary on his own, i don't know if that's on purpose or not, i never know if the voices heard as she's driving are them actually talking or her imagining what they're saying, can you believe "she was even flirting with me"... norman bates comes off as quite the gentleman after her encounter with sleazy tom, as marion and norman are talking in the office, it does sound like he has experience from seeing the inside of a "madhouse" as he calls it... "some place", i actually still get surprised how suddenly she disappears from the movie, and it felt like a loss because she's such a pleasant captivating leading lady, after all it was her story you were engaged in, norman had just showed up, now the scene between norman and arbogast is not pleasant, that is nerve wrecking. ๐Ÿšฟ ๐Ÿ’€ ๐Ÿ‘ต ๐Ÿ›Ž ๐Ÿฆ ๐Ÿฆ‰ ๐Ÿž ๐Ÿšช ๐Ÿš“ ๐Ÿ›ฃ ๐Ÿš ๐Ÿ•ธ was in meeting concerning to drive you out, you lured behind curtain took me to the side, with feminine mystique changed my sight, made me infiltrate the group, from within working on behalf of you. living outside of usa i got the dvd releases, this series have been released several times in different packages, "night of the living dead" is a halloween ๐ŸŽƒ viewing tradition for me, i watch "werewolf of washington" on election nights, and "santa claus conquers the martians"... obviously on christmas, "beast from haunted cave" suits for that time of year as well, and they are both featured on the same dvd disc. there are a lot of rare flicks i would never have come across if it weren't for these elvira collections, many times the same movie is featured in different series, i think dvds of the 1980 series stopped getting released as this new series began to get put out. i missed the "13 nights of elvira" as it was only available online on amazon. ๐ŸŽฅ ๐Ÿ“ฝ ๐ŸŽž world has moved on, in memories i belong, dont recognise these people, and the ones i knew have all been leavin, you keep building and tearing down, puts me further behind. spot on. i liked it, and you're right, karloff is always great. notice if you're familiar with the twilight zone that the kids messing around the scientist's house looks exactly like the kids from the twilight zone episode "the incredible world of horace ford", a horror that starts off with good old circus music, tent, and paintings, my goodness. also notice there is nearly not one fella in this flick not wearing a hat. to me this looks more like a 1950s movie, it had fairly good picture and sound quality as well, good editing. i can't believe this was only nine years after "frankenstein", karloff looks like such a much older fella here it's hard to figure he was still around making movies in the 1960s when the other famous classic movie monster bela lugosi were long gone, speaking of lugosi, this plot is quite similar to "brooklyn boys" aka "belo lugosi meets a brooklyn gorilla" (1952), though while that movie is just goofing around, this can be moving at times, there's more to karloff than just frankenstein's monster, he delivers the dialogue so well, notice about 50 minutes in it sounds like he uses the s (aka crap) word. - "let me shoot 'em once, sheriff" - "nah. once enough.", can you imagine the kind of violence in a modern movie? man they made that gorilla look big, it gives a heavy "king kong" vibe, and look at the incredibly small tie on one of the players as they are gathering men. ๐Ÿต ๐Ÿ™ˆ ๐Ÿ™‰ ๐Ÿ™Š ๐Ÿ’ ๐ŸŽช ๐ŸŒ ๐Ÿฆ shut out from world, barrier everywhere i turn, not a friendly hello, wind and sky only company i know, people threw me out, of my own home town, and i no longer recognise this spot, years of changing while in past i got left alone stuck, dont know what ive done, to receive get this hostility from everyone. happy halloween. nicholson makes great face expressions. the here's johnny ๐Ÿ˜ฌ bit becomes funnier when you realise that used to be the introduction to "the tonight show". best dialogue of the movie - "you chopped your wife and daughters into little bits, then you blew your brains out" - "that's strange sir, i have no recollection of that at all". i'm so used to the setting of this movie that it looks strange in the beginning with people at the hotel, except ghosts i guess later on, notice he calls his wife a bitch twice while talking to the bartender, first as he calls his son a son of a bitch, later calling his wife a bitch. this movie has some weird carpets in it. ๐Ÿจ heading away from this miserable place, to your home of grace, if you didnt pick up my soul, id be long gone, a once good stranger will rub off the cold, as this is a place bad for your soul. this is available at so many places because of copyright issues i guess then as brought up, it's in several horror movie hostess elvira collections, the first one i came across was a catcom double feature (if i recall right) release. i watch this every halloween, there are some discussions which is the best of this and "dawn of the dead", my buddy and i were blown away by the dawn movie, but it's been so long now since i saw it i can't remember much of it and say which of the two movies i would prefer, the third "day of the dead" (1985) was much too gross and bloody for my taste though. favorite line of this movie "yeah they're dead... they're all messed up". i missed that johnny appears later in the movie as a zombie. there is an obvious cut about 51 minutes in when harry and his wife are talking in the basement. ๐ŸŽƒ long for days of old, dont understand the world any more, technology rush, but like in stone age im stuck, in modern society dont know how to get by, long for a more innocent time. well i still prefer the version that has horror movie hostess elvira hosting it. this movie looks mightier than other corman flicks from this time, some scene changing looks like that of a tv movie though, unusual for it to be in colour, and neat animation at the opening credits, speaking of animation, the castle from the outside looks like a painting, what eerie soundtrack suitable for a horror, when gustaf first appears through the door it looks like a second nicholson, boris karloff has a great voice and screen presence, to think he just grunts in his most famous role (frankenstein's monster). dick miller seem to be a re occurring actor in roger corman movies. this movie doesn't have any gross scenes in it until 50 minutes in where the guy gets attacked by the bird. when nicholson points the gun at the old lady and tells her to call off the bird was unintentionally funny. ๐Ÿฐ ๐ŸŽ ๐Ÿ–ผ you talk so much crap behind peoples back, the only thing that kept me safe was being there, probably got some soon as i was out the door, you unload and i made a crap song. spot on, but i agree that the ending was unsatisfying, and yeah it was nice how the original actors returned, but wow, craig t nelson's role is almost constantly angry in this sequel, he was much more likeable in the first movie, and notice he seems to have a haircut as the movie goes on, by the way, his wife has an uglier haircut in this movie. the native american is the same guy from "one flew over the cuckoo's nest", right? i guess the line "what if this guy escaped from the asylum" is a reference to that role then, in his first scene it looks like the singing bush. sure are a lot of topics about kane on this board. as this movie opens up straight away you notice this looks technically worse than the first, but then it looks better as it continues, it's just the camera work in the beginning, the shot outside the cafe looks like a painting, doesn't it. notice the robot toy smokes at first. in the first movie at the end the fella is credited first, here it's the female. i've come across the first movie all my life but never seen the sequel until now, well, i liked it. ๐Ÿ“บ cracked a smile, and an eye fell down, walked by the stove, smelled somethin funny up my nose, cheek had melted an inch or so, before i know the woman i once was hooked on, was now a melted piece of plastic on the floor. there are a couple of topics on this board about how this is similar to a "twilight zone" episode and i've heard it mentioned before, i find both this and its sequel reminds of the twilight zone episodes titled "little girl lost" and "long distance call". this is what horror movies should be like i find, spooky instead of blood and gore which i think is only disgusting and off putting, except for the bite mark and the bathroom mirror bit this has nothing of that, also except for the other word for crap, i don't think this has any cursing in it, it was an hilarious line though "you look like...", by the way, without subtitles i don't see how you can follow much of the dialogue, living in a none english speaking country i got subtitles. i didn't know this was a spielberg movie, notice the darth vader connection in the kid's room. the "she went through me" line took me back to the gag in "bedazzled" (2000) and "ghost" discussion, also i recognised the bits "family guy" has spoofed. there is some added comedy in this, that's kind of unexpected too. the reaction from the mother was weird, how she got excited about the supernatural stuff instead of scared and freaked out. what an unexpected opening tune as the movie begins, and also can be heard later in the movie, and it looked a bit unusual for the woman to be credited first before the fella, in the end credits it's switched though and the fella is credited first. ๐Ÿ“บ ๐Ÿคก warmth everywhere i go, soon as hit home feel the cold, as you stay high you bring me down, no matter what taking the fun out, and im better off not hangin around, same old urge to leave town, great relief at other sights, somehow salvage on foreign grounds, until next time im freaked out by messed up homeland of mine. spot on, i almost didn't get through this, there were a few striking parts though, like the scene where the guy gets shot while taking a photograph looked so terrifying, and the first time this movie saw some thrill, almost a half hour in, doesn't seem brutal enough to rate the movie from 15 though when you think of the kind of movies made today rated from that age, the umbrella scene that followed looked unintentionally funny, i've never seen so many umbrellas in my life, lots of room on that plane as someone mentioned, when they're in the ocean gathering together on a piece from the plane gave me a vibe from another far more captivating hitchcock flick i find, "lifeboat". a really rough cut in the windmill, some real suspense there though. much of the buildings looks like miniature props, i wonder how they shot the scene where he climbs out the building, neat how parts of the neon sign broke. spoiler follows, being used to hitchcock's "psycho", i actually weren't that surprised when, who we are suppose to think, fell from the building, killing the lead halfway through the movie. ๐ŸŽฅ ๐Ÿ“ฝ ๐ŸŽž expected a hollow night, then surprisingly you came to shine, not afraid of the dark, when you come along, with golden hair and laser eye, started strict but then put on smile, and gives me sweet dreams at night. well i've seen duran duran's music video of this roll every once in a while on vh1, and it's neat how they mix in footage from the movie, "for your eyes only" have also run a lot on the station, i've got all bond soundtracks from the first 1962 (dr. no) up to 1985 (this) on the 2003 releases with bonus tracks on cd and listen to them regularly, the whole soundtrack to this is great but lacks a bit of diversity i find and it runs sort of similar throughout, i find "on her majesty's secret service" to be the best one, a bit too many horns on the very earliest ones i think, i just saw a documentary on cnn a few days ago about bond where they talked about the original bond theme, i couldn't believe the original composer monty norman was still around, and tonight aired a bit about duran duran on bbc. too bad john barry didn't continue making bond soundtracks after the 1980s, this franchise sure lost a lot of its trademarks after this movie. ๐Ÿ‚ ๐Ÿš ๐ŸŒŒ ๐ŸŒ‰ ๐Ÿš’ ๐Ÿš” ๐Ÿšฆ ๐Ÿฝ ๐Ÿšฟ ๐Ÿ—ผ ๐Ÿ‘’ ๐ŸŽ ๐ŸŽฉ was ghost in damp rain, your sunshine brought me alive again, where i drifted in memory, appeared bloomin field, your mysterious charmin vibe, turned me back to a guy. notice what a short tie he wears, and it looks so weird today seeing someone working on a typewriter, and you actually react when someone is not wearing a hat, a funny bit in the movie was "i wonder what's the b for", why didn't she keep the gun after disarming him, and notice how the main stars disappears for a long time in the movie. overall i find comedy ages incredibly poorly, especially from around this era, and i didn't even like the remake of this, so i found it quite a drag. weird how a well known movie like this with major stars is in public domain. ๐ŸŽฅ ๐Ÿ“ฝ ๐ŸŽž midnight sunshine, struck by fair rays and sharp eye, in extreme heat, because your lovin expertise, since most every night you beam. there is a lot of fun in this movie, i guess you can't have chris farley and miss out on fun, but there is also a lot of very bad bits, especially at the start i found, then it gets funnier, i was afraid at first it wouldn't be as good as i remembered it, i've got a feeling this would go over especially well with a very young audience, i mean small children, basically it's farley doing slapstick and bumping into stuff, i noticed in the end credits chris farley is listed under "stunts", by the way, those are some huge letters on the end credits, besides from "desperate housewives" i've only seen the female lead in like two movies and they are both from around the same time, the mid 1990s, opposite chris farley in this and leslie nielsen in "spy hard" (1996). there are some great lines though, like "perhaps i shall send dom perignon to your room" - "i prefer to be alone tonight". the phone book scene actually made the movie feel dated, that's how fast technology is moving now. uh... there is an actor in this that really reminds of john candy. ๐ŸŒด tryin to look you in the eye, but at your boobies i bounce down, on a quest, not to stare at your blessed chest, but i fail every time, you put on a dress you wore tonight. it sure takes a long time before any of the lead actors appears, close to a half hour in, sort of like a "columbo" movie, i can't believe arnold doesn't show up until over an hour in, as i was watching the movie i was seriously beginning to think i got it wrong and that he wasn't in the movie, after all he wasn't even on the cover i got, rather linda hamilton was, her role is funny and neat, like the way she talks, i wonder why they hadn't brought her back before. the opening mixing with the logo was something new, the closest thing i can think of was richard pryor's voice in "another you", it didn't make any sense though. like much these days, it's all so fast paced and action packed it's hard to make sense of, are there even stuntmen any more or is everything done by computer. of course i've heard of the terminator all my life, but this was actually the first terminator movie i saw. ๐Ÿค– drawn into your sunshine, catch mind with reptile like eyes, then you turn charm on, plays me as i cant go, using such force, i turn into a puddle of sweat on the floor, that you wet in your mouth warm. there is a lot of this movie i don't follow, it's like a two hour circus show, so if you don't wanna sit on a hard bench in a tent rent this instead, and much of it seem to go on repeat, both the bar scene and the crowd waiting for the show really reminded of "the blues brothers" (1980), i would have liked to see what happened between bronco billy and the sheriff, geoffrey lewis had the funniest parts of the movie, notice the fly on the pillow, it didn't get a credit, did it. ๐Ÿค  ๐ŸŽ ๐ŸŽช ๐Ÿš‚ cruising on your curves, rattling my nerves, without gps, led by your natural ways instead, you point on the map, as at you i crash. well, i agree that lithgow sure would suit better in the role then, by the way, remember clint eastwood was the name marty picked in the third back to the future instalment. there is only one cursing word in this movie and it is being reused, the other word for crap, that's a bit strange i thought. when marty first "crashes" into 1955 it looks like the wild west with that barn setting, the 1950s set looks so colourful and jolly compared to 1985, if you saw this for the first time, as he wakes up you might think it had all been a dream, he says himself "what a nightmare". i wonder how marty and emmet brown ever got to know each other and hang out, i don't think that's ever been explained in any of the three movies, the principal is not featured in the third movie but i used to think the sheriff in "back to the future 3" was the same actor who played the principal, i just noticed for the first time that marty has a brother, what an incredibly small part and i don't think he appears in the upcoming movies. funny it seems like "family guy" has spoofed like every scene in this movie. the scene where the family haven't heard of the president a bit of the dialogue might just have been identical to a bit in the twilight zone episode "the parallel". ๐Ÿ—“ ๐ŸŽธ ๐ŸŒฉ ๐Ÿซ ๐Ÿ•ฐ ๐Ÿš˜ ๐Ÿƒโ€ ๐Ÿค  ๐Ÿ“† ๐Ÿ• ๐Ÿ“… in my cave been empty cold n grey sights, suddenly struck sunshine at night, as finally madeleine came around, yabadabado turned hot n weather warm, drawn into deep mystic eye, that dance with my soul somehow, throwing her big hair about, degree rise on tan curvy body my mind crawl, wish to paint madeleine on the cave wall. what the... it's just one and a half hour of profanity and just because it's silly doesn't mean it's funny, some parts are also disgusting, like the guy throwing up having dinner, i've caught pieces of monty python all my life and never understood its greatness, i don't know if you have to be british to appreciate it, some explain monty python as a ton of sketches with a few funny ones, like "saturday night live" i suppose, and at the same time john cleese made one of the funniest series ever, "fawlty towers", same thing with eric idle, i like him in other things, but i just don't get monty python, speaking of other things, the leg bit (by the way, a man losing his leg, another thing suppose to be funny?) reminded of eric idle in national lampoons european vacation (1985), "honestly, it's just a leg, i've got another one", now that was funny, but this... all i kept thinking was, what a piece of crap. i mean it's just nonsense. i agree with other topics on this board how men dressing up as women is not funny and how this movie is depressing than anything else. ๐ŸŽฅ ๐Ÿ“ฝ ๐ŸŽž puppet is me, and you pull the strings, looks knock me out, as you put on cat like eyes, stares me down, scares me at night, cant escape your magic tricks, please have mercy on me. also just as in roger moore's first bond flick he has encounters with crocodiles, yes, and a pattern in bond movies is a villain crumbling something in the hand, here it's the dices, dr no does it to a statue, oddjob in "goldfinger" to a golf ball, hehe, another villain is recognisable from "beverly hills cop", made around the same time, also the general at the circus must be the american guest from "fawlty towers", you sort of recognise his voice, and this marks twenty years since the gogol actors first appearance in "from russia with love", vijay comes pretty far down the credits for having such a big part. someone commented that the 1980s bond flicks looks like tv-movies, i wouldn't go that far, but i admit the camera work looks a bit off sometimes in this, like there is one really bad shot at the train sequence. the fight on the train, the woman in the back seat, a lot of that gave the same vibe as the ending of in "a view to a kill" but with a different setting. to think connery was playing bond at the same time in "never say never again", i wonder if that's the reason they went all the way in with bond trademarks in this like the strange bit when bond recognises his own tune in the scene "charming tune" as i guess the connery movie didn't have the right to use it. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ•ด๐Ÿฅš ๐ŸŠ ๐Ÿ… ๐Ÿ† ๐Ÿฏ ๐Ÿฆ ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿšƒ ๐Ÿ›ค ๐Ÿคก ๐ŸŽช ๐Ÿคนโ€ โš”๏ธ ๐Ÿ‘ณโ€ ๐Ÿ›ฉ couldnt feel the fall, though hear its grey and cold, but since you came home, darlin got sunshine and warmth, with soft touch and mysterious eyes, summer weather as weekend you stayed every night. this situation have been spoofed in austin powers, how the villains never simply kill bond when they have the opportunity but rather comes up with some weird scenario, which bond of course always escapes from. after i had just seen "the unxplained" on the history channel about gold and one of those new bond movies airing tonight i got in the mood to rewatch this again instead, how cool is this connery version of bond compared to the recent macho boys trying to look tough. did you know that both honor blackman (galore) and diana rigg (teresa bond) left the british 1960s cult series "the avengers" to star in bond movies. galore's role is similar to jaws in "moonraker" and may day in "a view to a kill" in the way she turns in the end and helps bond out, another thing similar to "a view to a kill" is the villain firing away at his own people (goldfinger, max zorin). ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€ โ›ฑ ๐ŸŽฉ โ›ณ๏ธ ๐ŸŒ๏ธโ€ ๐Ÿ›ฉ ๐Ÿ•ด if i could transform, id like to be the dress tonight you wore, to curvy luscious body mould, then i would begin to dissolve, until you got nothin on. wow, a lot of negative posts on this board... jim carrey made hilarious movies in the 1990s, but then went into corny comedies or i guess children's movies like this, kind of went the same way as eddie murphy as someone has already brought up, when i was a kid the children's entertainment was cool and you can also enjoy it as an adult, i remember grown people laughing at them, "the flintstones" was moved to prime time for goodness sake, now it's all corny and the cartoons doesn't look like cartoons any more, but rather some weird messed up computer stuff that just confuses your head. to think how many hilarious movies we would have had if jim carrey had continued making movies like "dumb and dumber", "me, myself and irene", "the mask", "the cable guy"... i've seen jim carrey guesting shows, and the man himself is still as funny, it's just that the movies he's in these days aren't, i liked "dumb and dumber to" though. jim carrey and angela lansbury in the same flick, how about that. ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿง they say its bad staring into the sun, but im helpless when you come along, the fairest of them all, in the night like a bright sun using magic charm, and
