Just imagine, Carved, if Kristen were to play a professional female bodybuilder, she would have to undergo an even more extreme body transformation than Taylor Lautner did in order look the part in The Twilight Saga: New Moon. Either that or the VFX team would have their work cut out for them--we're talking some serious deepfake editing to pull this off realistically--something Hollywood has yet to accomplish. Exactly Ron. Makes me wonder how she will find the time to direct her own movie, The Chronology of Water. Perhaps this may be the reason why Kristen has yet to respond to the emails which I sent to her talent agent. On my latest email, I attached a PDF file of my screenplay, something which I believe is against WME Entertainment policy as they supposedly don't accept any unsolicited scripts. I ran out of space too Carved, so much so that I put most of my DVDs in either Memorex Slim Jewel Cases or plastic sleeves. I may be doing the same eventually with my Blu-ray collection. For this reason, and being that I'm miser when it comes to buying things on eBay, I've been buying lots of used Blu-ray and DVD movies for pennies on the dollar as they come with no case and ship for very cheap, similar to how Netflix ships their movies in paper sleeves. Buying used movies can be a gamble, but if you purchase them from a reputable seller, in my case, I rarely receive movies that don't playback flawlessly. Speaking of the Crimes of the Future Blu-ray sold by Amazon, Blu-ray.com gave it pretty good ratings for video and especially audio quality: blu-ray.com/movies/Crimes-of-the-Future-Blu-ray/315201/ While I have yet to watch the Blu-ray version, if it's as good as the streamed version which I watched, I'm pretty sure you'll be pleased with the Blu-ray transfer. That would be a huge surprise if that were true, Carved. I recall reading an article stating that Kristen's character is the girlfriend of a female bodybuilder. Had that article mentioned that Kristen herself would play the role of a bodybuilder, I'm pretty sure it would have stuck in my mind--permanently burned in my cerebral cortex--for how often does any actress portray a professional/competitive female bodybuilder, especially if she's not one in real life? That would certainly be a first for Kristen, and the vast majority of active actresses who work in Hollywood for that matter. Edit: I just found the article Carved, which was written by Erin Brady, a film critic and entertainment journalist who contributes to Collider and other online sites which discuss movies: https://www.msn.com/en-us/movies/news/love-lies-bleeding-everything-we-know-so-far-about-the-kristen-stewart-a24-romance/ar-AAYVwwG Love Lies Bleeding: Everything We Know So Far About The Kristen Stewart A24 Romance
So far, we know few details about what will happen in "Love Lies Bleeding," the most significant of which is that it takes place within the world of competitive bodybuilding. Stewart will play the girlfriend of one such bodybuilder, with the film focusing on their relationship as one "fueled by ego, desire, and the American Dream," according to the official logline. Given its specific focus on female characters, it is likely that the female bodybuilding space, which was showcased in the 1985 documentary "Pumping Iron II: The Women," will be given a major spotlight.
Thanks Carved, for posting the link to that IndieWire article. Ever since I saw Alicia's mesmerizing performance in Ex Machina, I was hoping she and Kristen would both star in a project together. Hopefully one day they will costar in a feature film. As far as the actors in Love Lies Bleeding, the credited cast is quite impressive. Now I'm just curious as to find out who will play the female bodybuilders in this film. Another upcoming movie which stars Steven Yuen which I'm looking forward to watching Ron, is Nope, which is written and directed by Jordan Peele and costars Daniel Kaluuya of Get Out, Keke Palmer of Hustlers, and two of my favorite character actors, Michael Wincott and Keith David. In addition to the films you mentioned, I also enjoyed watching The Sixth Sense, Split and Unbreakable. One thing M. Night Shyamalan should get credit for is that he's an independent filmmaker with universal mainstream appeal as evidenced by his original movies grossing over $3.3 billion worldwide. The Shawshank Redemption is definitely my fave Stephen King adaptation. The Green Mile, Stand by Me and The Shining rank pretty high on my list as well. Other noteworthy films based on Stephen King books include Misery, It, Hearts in Atlantis, Dolores Claiborne, Secret Window, The Dead Zone and The Mist. Indeed Ron, as from Shivers, to Rabid, to The Fly, to eXistenZ to Crimes of the Future, Cronenberg has become synonymous with the body horror subgenre. And it's not that he isn't also a master of psychological horror as well as evidenced in his other films such as Scanners, Dead Ringers, The Brood, Spider and Videodrome. He adds a transhumanist twist to his latest vision of the transformation of the human body. I wasn't able to watch Crimes of the Future in the theater either, Carved and Ron, so I decided to stream it. While I wanted to write a review, I thought it best to let Kristen's acting do the talking. So without further ado, I present to you my latest Kristen Stewart video edit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hT8MEe2X1WM Very strange movie indeed, yet Kristen appeared very comfortable in her acting skin, churning out a pretty impressive portrayal of her character Timlin in Cronenberg's latest body horror flick. Thanks for updating us on all the great news, Carved. Even after receiving her first Oscar nomination, Kristen doesn't appear at all to be resting on her laurels as she continues to solidify herself as the de facto Queen of Cannes, as Crimes of the Future will be in competition for the Paleme d'Or. I'm guessing what that anonymous quote is referring to when it speaks of this film being extremely divisive and controversial will be with regards to transhumanism, pertaining to those who embrace it and those who oppose or even flat-out object to it. As far as being cast in Love Lies Bleeding, I've said for quite time that Kristen is the perfect actress of her generation to star in a romantic thriller just as her predecessors were: Julia Roberts in Sleeping with the Enemy, Diane Lane in Unfaithful, Kim Novak in Vertigo, Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction, Faye Dunaway in Chinatown, Kathleen Turner in Body Heat, Madeleine Stowe in Blink, Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct, Isabella Rossellini in Blue Velvet, and since we're discussing Cronenberg, Holly Hunter in Crash. Agreed that it surely has body horror vibes to it, the sub-genre which David Cronenberg helped originate and made him famous for. I only wished it had more than just a couple seconds of Kristen in it--but then again it's only a teaser. Kristen moved up again, to #47 for the week starting 4/18/22, Ron. The Crimes of the Future teaser trailer coming out a little over a week ago may have also had a part in this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVX7df79BNo Bumping this thread as I updated Kristen's current ranking on the IMDb Starmeter. I believe Tanaya Beatty has the talent to pull off such a role, Carved, as she did well in the Western Hostiles considering she held her own starring alongside an all-star cast which included Christian Bale, Rosamund Pike, Wes Studi, Jesse Plemons, Ben Foster, Rory Cochrane, Stephen Lang, and Timothee Chalamet.
Neon’s Spencer starring Stewart as Princess Di is not in the mix for Spirit Awards this year; film budgets must be $22.5 million or below to be eligible.
I was wondering why Kristen didn't receive a Spirit Awards nomination--thought this was just another awards body which snubbed her performance--to realize this could very well be the only reason. The reason Mackenzie Davis was one of the first names that popped into my head Ron, was my first impression I had of Mackenzie after watching her in Tully, where she starred opposite Charlize Theron, was Kristen starring alongside Julianne Moore in Still Alice. Like Kristen's characters in several of her films, Mackenzie was a free spirit with a bit of a rebellious streak. Perhaps this was one of the reasons why they were both cast in Happiest Season. I would have to agree that Dakota Fanning, because some of her career choices have mirrored that of Kristen at various stages in her career (i.e., The Runaways, New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn - Part 2, Cutlass, Hounddog, Now is Good) and Riley Keough, who has played several roles which I wished Kristen would have portrayed (i.e., Mad Max: Fury Road, Logan Lucky, American Honey, Zola, The Good Doctor, The Devil All the Time), would be two very likely candidates who meet the definition of being friends of Kristen as well as having the potential to nail the lead role in The Chronology of Water. My third pick would be Mackenzie Davis who portrayed a bisexual role in Happiest Season, costarring opposite Kristen.
Finally, I have to disagree with your assertion that Kristen's performance in Spencer is "being praised because it's associated with the British Royal Family." I believe the reason that Kristen has received all this critical praise along with an Academy Award nomination is because she gave an outstanding performance. Granted, the film has its flaws, but Kristen's performance is definitely not one of them.
While I would agree that the movie Spencer seemed to have the makings of an Oscar bait film, I too would disagree that making a film about the royal family automatically makes it so. If this were true, it probably would have received nominations for Best Original Score or Best Costume Design. Additionally, some would argue that making a film about the British Royal Family which includes elements that would not portray them in the most favorable light, could serve as a detriment, as this may have had something to do with BAFTA juries snubbing Spencer completely. While the following article doesn't say this directly https://people.com/royals/spencer-snubbed-bafta-nominations-prince-williams-role-president/ the title: Spencer Left Out of Nominations from BAFTA — the Film Academy Headed by Prince William, seems to indirectly imply that the British film academy headed by Princess Diana's son, may have played a role in this particular BAFTA jury's snubbing of Kristen. Others have speculated that the royals weren't particularly fond of the film based on a rumor that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's boycotting of the 94th Academy Awards is due to Kristen's expected Oscar nomination. But then again, this may have something to do with royal family members shunning the limelight at a time when Buckingham Palace is again being tainted by a scandal, this time involving their uncle, Prince Andrew. For this reason I decided to do a music video edit to highlight not just Kristen's performance in Spencer but also that of Stella Gonet who played the Queen, to show that the film did portray the royal family, especially the Queen, in grandiose fashion and from a flattering standpoint: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdUu_Nf9u5U&t=121s In an effort to kowtow to the royal family, I mentioned in the description for the video that Elizabeth has recently become the first British Royal to reign for 70 years, while using the British royal anthem "God Save the Queen" for the background music. Thanks for posting those links Caved. I wholeheartedly agree with Owen Gleiberman's sentiment on Kristen's SAG snub. Interestingly for myself, her performance in Adventureland likewise made me a fan of her work. An analogy I just thought of that relates to Gleiberman's wise words, is this year's NFL playoffs where the top teams (Chiefs, Titans, Packers, Bucs, Cardinals) along with the popular teams (49ers, Cowboys, Steelers, Raiders) got eliminated. So what football fans are left with is two underdogs (Rams, Bengals) to root for, which makes this season's Super Bowl very difficult to predict the winner of, just as was the case with who would comprise the Best Actress Oscar nominees, which the vast majority including myself predicted wrong. So who knows how many pity votes Kristen received from the actors branch of the Academy which helped her garner a nom and who knows who will win the Best Actress Oscar as the perceived frontrunner has exited the race. Since the theatrical release of Spencer, Kristen has given several good interviews, and the conversation she had with Nicole Kidman was one of them. As Kristen mentioned, Nicole Kidman is likewise one of my favorite actors. In my opinion, Kidman's most underrated performance, in terms of a role she should have been nominated for an Oscar for, was in Eyes Wide Shut. I did an edit of her performance in this film which is currently the most highly watched video on my YouTube channel with over 1.7 million views: youtube.com/watch?v=OTHCXY8wWSI Kristen also won a Best Supporting Actress award from the New York Film Critics Circle for CoSM, which is arguably the most prestigious film critics group in the world: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEEskCoSq9s&t=14s Interestingly, Lady Gaga won the NYFCC's Best Actress award this year for House of Gucci, yet got snubbed by the Academy. Just goes to show that receiving an SAG nom or winning an NYFCC award isn't a precursor to receiving an Oscar nom like it once was.
