Why are fantasy stories allergic to the word "wyvern"? Did anyone else guess the killer from the very first scene they were in? Are there any other films that deal with similar themes or social issues that you would recommend? How do you feel about the film being in black and white? Who would you cast in the inevitable live action version Netflix will make 15-20 years from now? Any thoughts on why Oshin never gained traction in the anglosphere? Any film recommendations for people who enjoy this movie's atmosphere? Why does everyone... View all posts >

Same to you. You're pathetic and not worth my time. Everyone can see what you've done. Go bother someone else. You can literally look up everything I said. But again, you don't want to do that because you'd be proven incorrect. I gave you data, you can choose to remain ignorant if that's your choice, but its very obvious that you grievance is illegitimate. Oh believe me, I already know. I've seen him called some variation of pathetic on so many boards without it deterring him at all that I'm starting to think that his entire schtick is all apart of some elaborate ruse to satiate his humiliation kink 😂 1. We were not debating. You said a bunch of easily disproven nonsense about a film. I disproved it. That's not a debate. 2. I have no reason to talk to you for the reasons I already explained. 3. You were the one who implied familiarity. But yes, even though I have only seen a handful of her films from the 70s and 80s, I still knew more than you as I already displayed by disproving several of your arguments against the film. So yes, you're obviously not familiar. 4. If just pointing out that you were mistaken and drawing attention to what anyone who comes to this board can clearly see that you're doing equals "insults and lies" then then maybe you should reconsider which one of us is psychotic. 5. Do you know what the word "probably" means? It means that something is very likely or in all likelihood. Stating that it's very likely you never watched this movie isn't an accusation; it's simply a recognition of the most logical conclusion based on evidence. For example, maybe you happened to recall an Italian film from the 1970s, all the message boards for which were inactive for nine years until I made my post. Maybe you have seen it even though you don't seem to know anything about it, as evidenced by your initial comment. Maybe you have independently decided to comment on my post, unrelated to me calling you out on another board. And maybe you did all of these things after making a sizable number of posts calling other movies lame propaganda even though you couldn't have seen them all because some of them weren't even released at the times you made the accusations, thus proving that you have a habit of lying about films you've never seen. But, PROBABLY not. Ratio? - Well, that would depend on the region and time period. Archaeological studies of skeletons and DNA evidence at known battle sites in modern-day Shizuoka Prefecture found that almost 30% were women during the 16th century. In other regions during the same period, women were estimated to comprise 1-5% of the samurai class. In the time period this series (1603-1616) is set, samurai made up approximately 6% (1, 080, 000) of the total population (18 million). That means that even as a minority, there were approximately 10,800-54,000 female samurai in Japan during this time period, and that's if we disregard outliers like the Shizuoka region. There's no conspiracy; they were there. If you argue with that, you're arguing with the evidence. You could have just looked this up, but you probably don't want to do that, as most historians and archaeological evidence support my observation. Do you want me to ruin Vikings for you too? Japan has a very long history with female warriors, something even the quickest of Google searches could have confirmed: https://www.travelcontentcreators.com/female-samurai/ https://allabout-japan.com/en/article/10785/ https://www.nationalgeographic.com/history/article/samurai-women-shogun-legends There were female gladiators, female pirates, female warriors in several different cultures around the world. For so long, women were removed from depictions of careers that they did historically occupy that now that they're being added back people act as though it's an affront to storytelling. In regards to the depiction of waifs who can beat up a horde of enemies singlehandedly - yeah, I'm not a fan of that either. But there's absolutely no reason that women shouldn't be depicted as inhabiting any of the spaces and roles that they did throughout history. I think it's safe to say that he doesn't know what that means 🤣 Nah. I already exposed you for lying about a film you've probably never seen because you're a salty b*stard. Our communication is pretty much pointless at this point. Also, I never claimed to have internalised her vast filmography. You're the one that said this was one of her worst films, implying that you're familiar with a large enough swath to definitively make that conclusion, when you didn't even know that it was one of her better received films of the 70s. Besides that, you were only able to mention her biggest hit in the 80s, The Taming of the Scoundrel, which isn't exactly what I'd call an early one of hers as it was almost a decade into her career 🤣. Such a refined palette you have! I guess we should add it too the list 😂 View all replies >
