To be honest, there are no perfect films. There are films that are very good to excellent, but not perfect. If you want to day that I'm not being reasonable, I'll take your point, but to me, rating of 10/10 is perfect, and such films don't exist. And FWIW, I never rated any film on IMDb as 10/10, either. While this was an excellent film, I'd still have to say a 9 out of 10. It was very good, but not perfect. By 'maiden', I take it that you mean 'virgin'. She was a virgin until she met the man she was supposed to meet. The best way I could put it without spoilers. Capice? I liked SL, but The Stand was (and is) still my favorite SK story, both book and movie. I am in the facebook group. Sorry about not being here for a while, but my old PC was acting up and wouldn't let on this sit for quite a while. I got a new laptop and that problem is behind me. Something about a security issue. This was the first thread that I started on IMDb. It's missing a few posts but it is good to see it. Not really. The space program was largely a USAF deal at first and they issued both Colt and S&W revolvers up to the 1980's, IIRC. Personally, I was happy to see the old M&P revolvers in this film. I was not able to log in for quite a while due to computer problems. Now that I have that problem fixed, I'll be more active. This was a good film and I liked it to death, but for me the best SK adaptation was the 1994 ABC mini-series, The Stand. Nothing else SK holds a candle to that. Hey folks, just in case anyone missed me, I'M BAAAAACK! My old Dell was still on XP and t wouldn't let me on here, so I finally got a new laptop. I still visit although not nearly as much. Yes, indeed!!! There were trolls that seemed to plague the IMDb boards, and were not only obnoxious, they indulged in name-calling, and posting OT and nonsensical stuff in other's threads. Yet at the same time, we have to be careful here. I expressed my dislike of two popular films and was called a troll, as how could anyone not just love these films? So, a working definition of a troll is a necessity. If you have had a chance to listen to it, what did you think of it? Agreed. I try to be fairly active here, and there is a discussion group on facebook that I am involved in as well. While I miss IMDb boards, there are substitutions. This site is one of the best. I'm not certain what it is that you are trying to convey here. gary_overman here. I haven't seen him. How about janqoc (?) ? I hope he is here under a new handle. WOW!! A whole lot of data seems to have been lost. It looks like we're going to have to start building this thread up all over again. So, let's get started, shall we? In the 1978 version of the book, (taking place in 1980) Stu is described as having been 'in the war'. Since he was thirty years old, that would put his year of birth as 1950 or possibly 1949, and the Vietnam conflict was going at the time of Stu's military service. The 1990 version still has Stu serving in the war, but his age has not changed. He is still thirty and there was no recent conflicts for him to have served in. What likely happened here is that when the 1978 version was expanded, this little tidbit was missed in the editing. I am here. I'm with house1977 on this. Moviedb was bookmarked though.
