Just learned today that Joe Dante is officially signed on as consultant for the series! And it's joint HBO and Amblin so maybe that means Spielberg will executive produce?

Just hoping they don't dumb it down or "Disney-fy" it just because it's animated. Dante made a perfect hybrid of horror and gore with light comedy in the 1984 movie. They should stick with that formula.

In the article I read it said it's going to be a prequel about the old Chinese shopkeeper as a young boy, so none of the original cast will be in it. I guess.
