But like pepetoony said.... that was the entire point. It was meant to be like that in order to lampoon those very things.
It's not a fair thing to say the film is pretentious....It's not the movie itself that is pretentious.
It would be like calling "Last Action Hero" over-the-top action. That is the entire point.
That's why I don't think your comparison to Birdman is a 1:1 comparison....
