First impressions right after the first episode

Just watched it. First reactions... wanted to know what you guys think after you see it.

- The bridge crew is fantastic and I hope they focus on them more. The doctor is hilarious and I would watch a whole episode of Lieutenant Shaxs, who is basically Worf without boundaries.

- Ensign Mariner is one of the most annoying characters I've seen in ages. They are trying to make her 'in your face' and rebellious, basically the opposite of anyone in The Next Generation, but it comes off obnoxious as hell. She bugged me to no end and she's arguably the main character. I hope they tone her down from 11 to about 4.

- I wasn't prepared for the more adult themes, which came suddenly and brought a lot of the humor. I was, for some reason, expecting G-rated stuff, but there were people being eaten and a bitchin' sword wound. They even had a male-only nude gym scene that made me laugh.

It's got potential. I get first episodes to have to cover a lot, but it had a couple of good chuckles in it, and its fantastic to circle back to the Next Generation era with some low-brow humor.

DAS RAYSAYST!! Beckett Mariner is the most diverse character of the whole crew and is a strong black wahmen. BLACK LIVES MATTER!! SHAME SHAME SHAME! She'll be as strong and knowing as Michael Burnham one day or that current black Captain Freeman of the Cerritos, just you watch.

Boimler is such a pasty white, pansy, useless wannabe officer who can't do anything on his own and needs the strong, talented, and smart black Mariner to save the day.
