Netflix is obsessed

They are obsessed with fake documentaries about someone who did bad things yet, because some group of crazies says that person was misjudged, the "truth" is that they're "innocent" etc. Is Netflix just just bankrolling any project that says it's going to tell an "alternative" version of common knowledge of a crime? Or is someone with a lot of money buying their way to make all these? Or was there one show (maybe "Making a Murderer"?) that was so successful that it set the "winning formula"?
These things are barely a notch up from amateur conspiracy theory documentaries on YouTube.

Hah JUST saw the trailer, had no idea it existed, but wanted to come here to see what people thought of it after seeing it. Yeah from what I've heard...she was robbing the guy, there was no "victimhood" in her circumstance at that moment.

From the trailer, it looks like they're doing a deep dive into her entire childhood, so...it doesn't look like they're trying to conflate stuff about the actual murder, but...I don't know, would be great to hear from someone who's seen it though.
