Dick Van Dyke

This film would have been better with Dick Van Dyke as the crime solving doctor rather than Daniel Craig.

I think he's a BIT too old for anything, now. It was a miracle he appeared in Mary Poppins Returns as it is, same with Angela Lansbury. I wonder why both of them haven't popped their clogs yet?

The technology is there now - they could have digitally de-aged him 25 years to have him in prime crime solving doctor condition!

reply

Forget it, he's too typecast since his Diagnosis Murder days.

Odd comment since I don't believe the detective is a Doctor. As I understood it he was a professional private investigator.

The detective wasn't but Dick Van Dyke is. And one of the best in the business. He'd have wrapped the case up in ~ 40 minutes and been back home sipping an iced drink overlooking the Malibu ocean...

Was flicking through the channels yesterday and came across the courtroom conclusion to an episode of Diagnosis Murder.

There was this dude, supposedly with cerebral palsy, sitting in a wheelchair. Dick Van Dyke threw a basketball hard at the guy's face and - quick as a flash - he blocked it with his raised hand. Next thing you know he's out the wheelchair with some "I would of got away with it if it wasn't for you..." line. Absolutely brilliant deductive skills.

I say again they really should have cast Dick Van Dyke for this film - he would have had the case wrapped up in half the time of that ridiculous beefy Sid James a-like "Bond"...
