Ok, is anyone going to say something about the bear...?

"It's a bear."

Yeah...WHY THE FUCK IS IT HERE??????????????????

Didn't you see the movie? Obviously, it was gonna be killed and gutted so that the main character's boyfriend could wear it like a suit when he was sacrificed.

*I* know what the bear was for. My point was everyone was asking questions about all kinds of other things concerning this strange community, but there's a bear sitting in a cage out in the open and no-one bothers to ask exactly why they have it.

I can’t remember if I saw a glimpse of the bear in a promo shot or read someone mention it, but I *immediately* wanted to know why the hell there was a bear there.

This raises the question for me, not having seen the film yet, of exactly how the bear stuff plays out. Is it killed off screen? When the boyfriend is wearing the skin, is it obviously him wearing a bearskin or does it seem like this is an animal and then you figure out there’s a guy inside?

I know that seems weird to ask about, but I really like bears, and it wouldn’t bother me as much if it was killed off screen and then was completely inanimate from then on. (I know, I know, people hurting doesn’t bother me at all.)

This is what happens (SPOILERS):

At the climax, the dead bear (we don't see it being killed) is being gutted on a butcher's table, and the butcher is teaching young boys how to avoid cutting the intestines, and then the boyfriend is put onto the table next to the bear carcass and stripped naked. Then it moves to him, sealed inside the bear carcass with his face fully visible under the bear's head, as he's put into the building that is to be burnt.

We don't see the animal's suffering at all.

Thank you! Much appreciated.

In the original script, the cult had a bunch of baby animals sacrificed and I think only Dani really reacted. Most of the characters were weirdly accepting of strange things. Just look how quick they were to accept the suicides (except the Brits).
