Episode 1 & 2 [spoiler alert]

Episode 1:
Pros-
Set the scene for the series atmospherically and artistically.
Looking beautiful.
Interesting characters and well acted.

Cons-
Far too slow....painful to watch, plus overly depressing music at times.
No explanation....what the heck actually happened? How did the disappearance and time travel occur? What happened to the girl/where did she go at the end? Did this happen all the time/reoccur (The woman seemed to know and expect this but the girl didn’t)?
Disappointing really, as no satisfactory ending.

Episode 2:
Pros-
A much better, succinct story with good pacing, characters etc.
Made much more sense..... it still had unanswered questions, but they weren’t as frustrating as the former episode.
Interesting to see that the main character in this episode is linked to the family from the first episode (Jees, what bad luck!) and I wonder if they’re all going to be linked in that way, to each other....small town + weird sh*t = bad luck for every household?

Cons-
It ended! I wanted more..... it was great and such a respite from the disappointment of the first episode.

The little girl in episode 1 is the older woman (mother meeting herself). It was implied to me at least that she remembers herself in this situation and so she guides her through the sequence of events and leads her back to her timeline to grow up and become herself. The woman/girl's mother/house did indeed disappear in the past and we're left wondering where to so it's obviously tied to "the Loop" machine under ground.

episode 2:
I was unnerved by the idea of the jock allowing his friend to disappear into the robot at the end. He seems to have lost his humanity in the process so it's obviously going to come back to haunt him later on in some shape or form.

Series overall:

I don't like the pacing and some of the overly intellectual and cold characters in this Hi Tech culture of a remote world. It's suppose to be like mix of early Silicon Valley, MIT, and the advanced sciences campus around Chapel Hill North Carolina (where the movie "Brainstorm" was filmed).

Is that suppose to be the Chronos Quartet that appears out of nowhere in episode 3? Strings can be soothing but as an overall film score backdrop it tends to grate the ears.
