Here's why I have my doubts...

Now, I haven't watched the Child's Play remake yet. But according to everything I've seen and heard about it, here's why I have my doubts...

First off, I personally think the new Chucky looks terrible. He looks so cheap and weird. I prefer the original Chucky appearance much more.

I hear that this new Chucky has an 'innocent' persona, and doesn't crack dark humored jokes like the original Chucky. That really bothers me. Chucky was always well known for his dark humor, and epic one-liners and comebacks. It's hard for me to imagine a Chucky without that type of personality. That's what I always loved about Chucky. His dark humor was always somewhat similar to how I view Freddy from the Nightmare on Elm Street films.

Making Chucky an AI seems to ruin the whole concept of who Chucky is and what he's supposed to be. Now, I get it, it's 2019, and the writer / director obviously wanted to put a technological spin on Chucky's character. But for me, that idea alone sends off a lot of red flags and doubt.

I hate to sound pessimistic and to be a naysayer, but I have my doubts that the film will live up to the original. The original Child's Play is such a classic. I grew up with the Child's Play films, and I just can't imagine that this remake will outshine any of the original films. But I could be wrong, I guess. Speaking as someone who holds the original film in high regards, is this film even worth my time? Should I give it a chance?

I had many doubts. I was wrong and absolutely loved the remake. I liked the updated Buddi doll. It was perfect for our world today. I hated the idea of an older Andy. It worked well though and the fact he needed help hearing made him seem younger.
