Good but thin

Just saw this after all the hype. It was technically marvellous and kept my attention, but it lacked depth. The characters needed more specificity, it was kinda generic. Real people are weirder than this, and reality is messier than it appeared.

Mendes has a good eye but he’s not interested in character. His Bond films were pretty but lacked charm and grit.

The entire movie could have just been those guys going from behind their lines to behind the enemy's lines and it would have been great. The contrast in real time was spectacular. I wonder if it was a realistic depiction of how close to the line everything could look so normal.

I mean it's not a character study. It was okay for what it is.

reply

Yeah but it would have been a richer experience with more character detail and specificity.
