Is it a "thing" now for Brits to make Oscar Bait movies year in and year out?

Every year we see another "British Heroic" movie about the Royals or WW2 and now WW1.

I'm not knocking this movie in particular but it looks like an obvious pattern every year.

Same goes for the silly "#OscarsSoWhite" obligatory Oscar-baiting Black movie.

Btw, I've seen all of the "for your consideration" movies so far and none of them stick out as that great.
