The drama doesn't really translate

Since we know he makes it. It's only the breath-taking scenery which makes this worth watching. I really couldn't care less about his preparations and life in the van. It also would have been more interesting if there were a more in-depth view into his peculiar psychology--I didn't really get an understanding of why he feels he must risk his life, why climbing is all he has to live for.
