It struck me during the film that so many buildings were pure 1920-30s style. Surly there were older buildings in use at the time as places of research. Maybe I'm wrong and these are the actual locations or maybe they were a little too focused on the building styles of the time the film is set.

It wouldn't surprise me if a lot of the real buildings being used in the 40s were from the 20s-30s period. A lot of government buildings probably sprang up as a result of the first world war.
