The CGI homage to “The Thing” sucked (spoilers)

It reminded me of “The Shining” sequence in “Ready Player One”. Why the hell would you homage a horror movie renowned for its use of practical special effects with a big CGI scene?

Totally clueless.

The homage to “Aliens”, when Eddie is impaled by IT (like Bishop was by the Alien Queen), was almost as bad.

It’s like the film just couldn’t stop clumsily throwing out 1980s references.

CGI is the way such things are done these days, get used to it.

I didn't even realise it was The Thing, anyway: I was more shocked that it was child Stan's rotted head that IT was using to mock his still-alive friends - what a bastard!

As for Eddie, it was just an impalement, there are many in the movies.

And even if they are 80s references, what's so bad about that? Hollywood has got a hard-on for revisiting 1980s culture lately, and it WAS a great decade for movies, so that's no bad thing, not to mention the sweet, sweet nostalgia that we're all craving these days. In fact, I bet you that, come the next decade, Hollywood will be revisiting 1990s movies instead. Hollywood seems to have a thing about revisiting 30-year old eras in its movies, and why not? Harken back to arguably better times.
