What happened to the extended cut?

I remember shortly after the movie came out Tarantino said he was going to release an extended cut of this like he did with The Hateful Eight where it was split into 4 hour long episodes? I'm guessing at this point that idea is scrapped and the only extended cut that exists is the one that was re-released in theaters that only had about 15 minutes of new footage.
