A Tad Deceptive!

I enjoyed the movie with its stellar cast and nostalgic nature. However, I was of the assumption that the two lead characters were real life people given how footage of them was interlaced with historic movies and the use of modern actors to portray actual actors of the era depicted.

A quick IMDB search and a Cinemasins episode later revealed that this was a fictitious alternate universe where many deceased actors and their partners or other associates lived longer lives.

Other movies such as "Forrest Gump", "That Thing You Do" and "It's All Gone Pete Tong" have employed similar tactics to imbue the protagonist (s) with a sense of realism. While a tad deceptive, it kept me hooked to the very end.

Having said all of that, the acting was excellent.
