Finally saw it at last (DVD) - over past year kept an eye on the buzz of this and from the odd article etc (but not enough to spoil anything) figured maybe some demon cult people kidnap the Mandy of the title and Cage has to go rescue her from another dimension/hell in like a throwback to 80s sword/sorcery horror pics

So at first you think might be hell/demons and the Thomas Wayne dude is like some demonic messiah and Cage will have to enter another dimension/hell but its all realworld/bad drugs (which in a way is like a gateway to a dimension of hell in the minds of the characters)and Cage goes on a fairly straightforward revenge rampage on the Manson like cult who murdered Mandy.. all in a surreal ethereal throwback to 80s heavy metal album covers, 80s fantasy swordnsorcery art, 80s slasher/occult horror/swordnsorcery/madmax films.. all in all quite a trip..sure i'll be thinking about it more and more over next few weeks/months as happens with these types of movies..like Blade Runner 2049 etc (interesting to note the composer of Mandy was originally the composer of BR2049 as he worked on previous Denis Villenere films but they eventually brought in Zimmer to do a more Vangelis style score. the Mandy score did sound abit 'Blade Runner-esque' at times)
