Ended too early...I wanted to see the family Xmas dinner scene at the end

It probably could, but given that the film was about the relationship between Tony and Doc, the family dinner scene would have been as much about the family as about those two. The character arcs are done, the story comes to a close with Tony welcoming Doc in in such a way that he never would have at the start of the film.

I would certainly watch a film (or play) of the dinner, but this film's story wrapped up, and I really liked that final scene (even if it was a bit predictable).
