This movie was so bad...

I'm embarrassed to have watched it. Horrible cast, horrible script. Seemed more like a low budget travel film.

It's based on a true story

I know. And Eastwood used the actual three guys. And the movie is awful.

reply

So not real actors?

reply

The main three guys weren't and it certainly showed. But even with the bad acting, it just a terrible movie. It felt three hours long despite being like 90 minutes.

Should have made a short or something.

I remember there was that "Act of Valor" which used active Navy Seals in the movie. I actually quite enjoyed it. But imagine a movie shot on a train might have more restrictions with a cast of limited acting ability.

Act of Valor was awful. Not as bad as this, but still really bad.

Well, he wanted to use the actual guys since they were willing, the problem is that this incident was something that's really hard to make a movie around. So you have like 10 minutes of the train incident and 80 minutes of backstory of the three dudes played by terrible child actors, with terrible dialogue. And the three actual guys did a great thing, but their acting was atrocious, especially Spenser.

I knew nothing about this movie going in and I ended up leaving about 45 minutes in. I can only remember leaving one other movie early (Superhero Movie which was awful) but everything about this felt so subpar.

When I got home I read up on it and was shocked that Clint Eastwood directed it since it seemed so amateurish. I see this more as a tribute to their bravery and I respect what Eastwood was trying to do in using the actual people but this (at least the first half that I saw) really missed the mark.

I was going to watch this yesterday but when I read he cast the real blokes I decided to give it a miss.

He should have dubbed Frankie Valli's voice in for Jersey Boys too.
