Difficult To Watch

This movie was actually quite good - until the ending, that is. Lin Shaye's performance, as usual, is excellent and very believable. So believable that it was painful to watch at times as the character she plays is quite pathetic. Oh and criminally insane too!

What I didn't like was the ending. This movie has a very bad ending! I don't understand why so many filmmakers nowadays feel they have to throw us bad endings! For me it can really ruin an otherwise good movie.

Lin Shaye is great and this movie is difficult to watch (a little too long and a little too dull). I didn't think the screenplay was that great either. It was very odd that no one seemed to catch on to her crap. (You didn't write SPOILERS so I don't want to say more.) Based on the flow of the screenplay I thought the ending fit well though.

Those kids knew something was very off about her but they were thuggish so I just thought they were getting their kicks out of harassing an old lady. Everyone else just thought she was a sweet old lady and no one suspected otherwise - until it was too late, that is.

When I said it was difficult to watch I meant that I was very embarrassed for her throughout. I didn't think she would go as far as she did. Once I realized the truth about her, the embarrassment was replaced by anger. Yes, Lin Shaye is fantastic in this.

I hated the ending. I would have preferred she got caught rather than what happened. I found it very depressing.

I think I might give this one a go when I get the chance. I haven't seen Lin Shaye since 'Insidious.' I take it that this one is less horror. And more of a mystery which might appeal to me.

Lin Shaye's acting is incredible.

Yeah, it's more of a thriller/mystery.

Let me know what you think about it if you see it, especially the ending.

Funny, I thought she was fine until the kids went after her and she kissed the boy. That gave her a taste of what she'd been missing with her husband. Also gave the scriptwriter someone for Rob to beat up to impress her (in her mind).

As I watched this movie it was the first time I realized that Lin Shaye was the tan lady in There's Something About Mary.

She was great in There's Something About Mary. She's a very good actress.

I can't believe the ending of this movie didn't bother you. I found it so sad and upsetting.
