if there had been no T345..

(or TV show)

.and this was the first Terminator since 1991..

Would it be fricking HUGE like 150m opening weekend?.. or would it be about the same? (with the same split down middle critically)

I'm guessing it be somewhere in between with a 60-70m opening for the sheer event of a long belated T3 starring Arnold & Linda (probably going on to make about the same worldwide as T2 non adjusted). Critically it'd be the same split middle some like it other hate it

'rise of the machines' was a long belated t3 and had a 44m domestic opening. an even longer belatedness doesn't help movies on the box office - see mad max fury road or blade runner 2049, both underperformed despite of long belatedness and great reviews.

reply

re T3 in 2003 yes but there was no Linda Hamilton, no Cameron (like at all - most he contributed was saying 'I hope it dosnt suck'), and ppl generally expected it to suck due to the no name director and Arnolds recent output had bombed

wheras at least TDF had Linda and Cameron on the credits and was from the director of popular Deadpool and Arnold wasn't coming off any recent bombs like 6th Day/Collateral Damage

ALSO what if DF had come out instead of Genisys in 2015? (or if there had been no TG in 2015 and DF had been the first Terminator film since Salvation)

im guessing itd have done about the same (90m domestic/440m ww) and since it had more favourable reviews they might have pushed on with the sequels. also Arnold probably would've had a bigger role had he not done Genisys

It would've been received as Alien3 was, with utter shock, dismay and disappointment because John Connor was murdered almost off-screen in this as Newt and Hicks died more or less off-screen as well.

F this damn movie! and F Alien3 as well!
