A Scandi Flick - some spoilers

It's been a while since the last special. Understandable in times of Covid-19. But for the future I hope they would do like 2x special a year.

A Scandi Flick is definitely worth a watch. The trio seems very relaxed and in good mood. Even though of course a lot of it is scripted there are some genuine laughs and jokes. It seems at least less scripted than other specials of the Grand Tour. It really looks like they had a great time and enjoyed themselves. For a few episodes I thought the magic was gone and it felt forced. But here it all seemed very natural.

The big moment of the show of course is the incident in the tunnel involving Captain Slow. Not so slow this time. Richard and Jeremy were visibly worried about their friend. And then another incident on the lake. Not so sure how much of that one was planned though.

They do some fun challenges - even though some might say it becomes a bit repetitive. But they've been on for so many years. Naturally there are some similiar things and challenges that have been done before.

But that's what we like about these old dinosaurs. That's why we watch. We know what to expect. It's like when you listen to Status Quo. It's more of the same, but that's what to expect if you DO listen to Status Quo. People - like me - who love the guys will keep watching and laughing. Other turned of years ago.

As usual the episode is nicely shot. Lots of beautiful landscape. The cars are nice as well. I was sceptic about Jezzas choice...but after the mod it turned out quite nice. And the sound of the V8 is just music in my ears.

All in all a great episode. Running at 100mins. Seemed shorter though. Can't wait for the next special. Which probably will take a while. But I'll keep watching. Until one day it will be over. That'll be a sad day.

A lot of it is clearly planned. I would prefer they do more genuine stuff. Or just acknowledge the planned stuff.

This was the most heavily scripted one i've ever seen them do. I think the only thing that wasn't was May's crash. They were doing clearly dangerous and stupid ass shit all over the place. All of those stunts would have needed permits and clearance and permissions from all sorts of levels of government. They definitely looked like they were having a good time and some of the bits were pretty funny. I particularly enjoyed Hammond trying to ride a ski lift with a sled.

I felt it was barely watchable. Wish I had seen what you did in it.
