S2:Ep3 took a suddenly morbid turn for the worse

They went from "Lets' have dinner!" to "Put your hand in the pot". Sure didn't see that one coming. I'm glad we got a glimpse into Alara's life. She's one of my favorite characters. Even though I like Bortus, his last 2 episodes were a little much for me. (Pissing of cliffs and struggles of gay sex addiction was overkill for me).

This show has good character development. I'd love to see more about Isaac and his home world. The character I find the least interesting is Gordan. Not sure what it is about that guy.

Gordon is the kind of opportunistic sleaze who's desperate for attention, but at the same time, be the first person to have your back when needed. He tries too hard to be cool that his attempts end up coming off lame. His character is clearly written to have redemption at some point. Right now, he the biggest man-child aboard The Orville and that's saying something considering the quirks of other crew members.

Isaac is going against his own kind's preconceptions, taking the time to examine and learning to understand what many of his race to consider uninspiring and lackluster. There is something to be said about his motivations. He is fascinating and i can't wait to see where the showrunners go with him.
