shareIt's not. If you follow the Hellboy timeline, Abe was discovered underneath St. Trinian's Hospital in the same capsule he was entombed in in the 1800's. Doesn't fit the timeline.
shareDel Toro likely wanted to make a movie in the same vein because he has voiced that Abe is one of his favorite characters. I'm hoping the character design will be original, however I'm sure elements of it will play off of Abe Sapien.
