Why did Smurf paint over Lena's name on the closet doors?

Seems she did it knowing Pope would flip out, did she want Pope to kill her? I can't think of any other reason she'd want to piss him off, but then she passed out in the bathroom so he let the painting over Lena's name thing go.

But it made me wonder what her intentions was in painting over her name, i just assumed it was her trying to get Pope to kill her so she wouldn't die weak and sick. But i seriously don't think that was enough to make Pope kill her, and i wouldn't think Smurf would think it would be enough.
