FOX sticking this on Friday night all but sealed its fate. It got 1.0 rating and only like 2.9 million views. Very sad considering this was high quality pilot and has the potential to go further.
I guess that I never envisioned this to be a multi-seasonal series in the first place. I was under the impression it was going to be a mini-series, or as someone pointed out to me: 10 episodes.
But I find it interesting that IMDb users rated this a 8.4 star series, and another Fox entertainment series 'Lucifer' got 8.3 stars and is in it's second season.
My take on that is that Fox executives want to tap into the paranormal fan audience that the Travel Channel and Discovery America has a good hold on. So it will be up to Fox executives to decide if these Exorcist shows are worth backing.
Let's hope we get to at least see the season before they pull it.
I'm more interested in WHY it failed. It would probably have done better on another network more suited for shows of its type. I don't know tho, they canceled Hannibal on some network a while back, can't even remember which it was. I'm not saying the show was great but it wasn't bad. It just saddens me because this basically means that we're not going to see darker shows on TV any more. It's all going to be on netflix, best scenario.
Just so tired of these lame ass comedies, cop shows and crap they push out every year. That's what people want tho so I can't really argue with it.
