Most of the characters are horrible, but it is not the actors.

Sonequa was great in The Walking Dead, but I cannot stand how her Star Trek character navigates her experiences. She comes off weak and irresponsible and really damn lucky.

Mary Wiseman was great in Baskets, but her Star Trek character is annoying and doesn't seem to fit well.

Wilson Cruz dominated My So Called Life, but his Star Trek character is whiny and feels sort of pointless.

I've watched some impressive YouTube videos of David Ajala, but his Star Trek character is a bitch.

Tig Notaro, Doug Jones, and Anthony Rapp are decent (Rapp was better in Adventures in Babysitting).

I guess what I enjoy in Star Trek from the 60s and 80s might never come back, and I am just old and stuck in my ways.

You are partially correct. The actors aren't completely to blame. It's the writers and the guy who hired them. Alex Kurtzman is the sole reason this series is the shitshow it is. He hired a bunch of young, stupid, inexperience writers straight out of college who were as woke as he was, who had never actually watched anything Star Trek, had a vague idea of what the other shows had, and then wrote whatever the hell they wanted into the show.

Don't ever let anyone tell you you are just old and stuck in your ways. Klutzman Trek is made to take a dump all over true Star Trek fans because Kurtzman hates you and doesn't fully have the legal rights to correctly honor past Trek even if he wanted to.
