how come very horror movie has to have a sequel?

I mean, it's really every horror movie. we don't see sequels to for instance fight club, vanilla sky, true romance, being john malkovich. so, in other words classic and great films.

so, that pretty much means that most horror movies that get sequels are stupid, forgettable horror movies. I definitely know that most horror movies made since the '00s that get sequels are bad movies. I think you can definitely prove this theory when it comes to horror movies. the fact that most horror movies that get sequels are bad horror movies. but you only see it since the '00s started this formula. back in the '80s and '90s it wasn't this way.

so, now here we go again, another useless sequel to a useless movie. we already got similar sequels to similar movies, insidious, the conjuring and now this movie. geez. when will this pointless trend end?

I dont think movies like the first saw film, insidious, and the conjuring are forgettable, their sequels? Possibly. But not the initial films. Hush imo also is one of those films i wont forget

yeah, but can't you see this tired and lazy trend of making sequel after sequel to horror movies. it's so tiring and annoying how every single horror movie released into theaters has to have a sequel. it doesn't even seem to matter how successful that they were with audiences as even small direct to video or small theater horror movies get a sequel.

Horror is a genre that has historically always lent itself to franchises. I think the goal for most horror films these days is to launch a franchise. Of course there are exceptions. The movies you named as not getting sequels are mostly art house films that are envisioned as standalone films. If a studio can establish a horror franchise with a recognizable antagonist, it's easy for them to make money off of sequels.

but that right there is the creative, artistic integrity and trademark problem: the people who make important films like vanilla sky don't have control over someone else making a sequel to their film. look at eli roth, he said no more hostel films and then they went ahead and made the most retarded movie ever hostel 3.

so, that's such a horrible thing, the fact that the original directors of films that get a sequel never wanted a sequel but someone else directed it. they as directors should have the right to keep anyone from making a sequel to a standalone film. and then after they die the estate holder or holders should always continue to stop anyone from making a sequel.

It's incredibly easy to make sequels to horror films. It's not so easy to make sequels to classic and artsy movies.

Cena doesn't overcome any odds. He's a wrestler with a God Mode cheat on.

no, it's not about how hard it is to make a sequel to a classic or artsy movie, it's about if it's a good thing to do as far as creatively and artistically, and happily most people think it's a bad thing to do, making a sequel to a classic or artsy movie. it's about making money and about making bad movies, which incidentally are easy to make, there you go. lol.

Well, obviously, COnjuring, Annabella (1), Conjuring 2 and Annabelle 2 have all been big big hits, the first three reamin playing at revival theatres, likel, and are among DVD's biggest and Amazon;'s biggest, something that should be put on the WIkipedia site..I saw the recent one, set in late 50s, making it real atractice, and Annabelle=one scary doll. I'd love to have one of those to protect our house myself. I think she could be used as a "good" scary doll since she's probaly tied of being a "bad" scary doll (image: crook breaks into our house, Annabelle truns aroun d, has the scariest face, scares would be attacker away, we say, Thank you so much Annabelle, creepy theme plays)

Because of money...often horror movies doesnt cost much to make and often unknown actors who doesnt take big paychecks but the teens loves to go and watch horror movies and therefore, they are always a succes no matter what, and things that is a succes on a low budget gets a sequel or prequel cause Hollywood knows that the teens will keep coming to the theaters and pay good money for some scary time...that is why these lame movies gets sequels and prequels...its all about the money.
