Why didn't she... (SPOILERS)

Bash his head in with the crossbow as soon as the boyfriend has him in a headlock? Never mind trying to load the bow, if she whacked him she could have knocked him out cold.

Take both knives when she stabbed him in the bathtub? Deprive him of both weapons. She could have also just then stabbed him again when he was reeling from the leg wound.

Gather all the knives from the kitchen and the corkscrew and anything else pointy and just fling them like darts at the killer when he came into the house?

Bash his head in with the hammer when she had his arms jammed in the window? She got a good arm hit in, but could have done more.

I know there wouldn't have been a movie if she'd done this, but seriously. There were moments here when she could have gotten the upper hand so easily.

I actually give her a pass on most of these, and here's why: I greatly empathize with her consistent fear that if he is able to physically get a hold of her, he will kill her. I know that logically you can say that she should be stabbing or hitting him again, but I can see how the chance that he might grab her would frighten her off of that action. He's just so much stronger than she is--and we see in the end that when he does physically get hold of her he is brutal and quick in his violence.

At the time that the boyfriend is grappling with the killer, the boyfriend yells for her to run. She is in shock and she's also not going to be moving very fast (because of having been shot in the leg), and the moment where she could have run out to help passes before she can do anything.

Her strategy of grab a weapon and hole up in a room (in her case the bathroom) is probably what I would have done in her position. I think that after she stabs him she still just wants to get away from him.

I agree that there are moments where she could have gotten an extra hit in, but I think that her flight instinct was stronger than her fight instinct. I mean, pretty much any horror movie it's like "What are you doing?! Shoot him again! Stab him again!". It didn't frustrate me enough here to keep me from enjoying the film.

she imagined that if she went outside the killer would get her so she got scared. It's easy to assume you know exactly what you'd do in a situation like that. I myself was thinking I'd gather up the best weapons I could find a bat, knife, hammer, whatever then hide in a closet and if he opened the door just unleash on him with all my fury and don't stop till one of us is dead. But that's just what i THINK i'd do because it makes the most sense to me in my rational mind. Were i actually in that situation I have no idea if i'd actually react that way. There's no way of telling how the panic/fear would effect your judgement.

What are words for when no one listens anymore

Hmm. I would use my gun?

This was one of my only major complaints as well where I was almost screaming at the screen. If your friend has the killer in a chokehold, I don't care how scared you are, you'd probably rush out there to at least help your friend. The killer was being choked for what felt like at least 30 seconds. Enough time for her to grab any kitchen knife and pluged it into his throat.

Just saw this for the first time yesterday. I was pissed and griping the entire second half of the film.

1. She pulls the arrow out of her leg....he is climbing the lattice to get up to the roof ledge where she is....I'm thinking stab him as hard as you can right through the eye with the arrow in your hand......she kicks him.

2. The dying neighbor, bleeding from a neck wound, gets the killer in a naked choke hold on the ground. GREAT!, Grab 2 knives....rush out there and stab the guy to death while he is defenseless. Nope she does nothing and after the neighbor bleeds out he gets out of the choke hold.

3. He is outside and bashing on the glass....she heads into bathroom and locks the door and sits with back to the tub. POOF!!! He is now IN the tub behind her. I don't know how the hell that happened but she feels his breath and turns and stabs him while he attempts to stab her. Great. Now FINISH HIM OFF and stab him about 96 more times!!! Nope she runs out of the room and leaves him to still come after her.

UGH.....I know you need a movie but do you have to let the victim pass up multiple kill opportunities to create suspense?
Goodness!
